I am am working on making some homebrew for the the metallic arts from the Cosmere by Brandon Sanderson. right now i am working on it outside of DDB so as i can input it all in one session of activity. i know that I am doing this for my own campaign but am wondering if others would be interested in it too?
no i haven't as some life moments happened and i forgot due to that. i do plan on it now that you brought it back to my attention thanks. what kind of stuff would you like to see first?
I'm mostly curious about how Allomancy's magic would fit into 5e rules. I've thought about it a bit and the trickiest parts I could think of were limiting the uses (like with spell slots or something) for balance without it being frustrating and still making sense, and also how scaling would work when leveling up. As I'm not sure how you'd give increased access to more metals and explain that, since in Allomancy they should get 1 metal only or all of them. If you want to put some ideas in a google sheet or something feel free to DM me and I'll be happy to do some brainstorming with you. I'd be excited to use the DDB home-brew stuff in my own campaigns.
I know this is an old post but would be very interested to know where you're up to with this? Would love to see it in DDB and happy to help with any playtesting or input if you need a second pair of eyes!
With a lot of D&D Allomancy homebrews floating out there, I highly recommend checking out Mistborn Adventure Game. I think D&D is simply a sleeve that Mistborn doesn't fit, but that is just speaking from my experience.
That said, not to discourage you: there are a lot of spells in the game that can already be used to emulate Allomantic and even Feruchemical powers. Thus I at least recommend using/granting these for a homebrew, as they're already part of the D&D Ecosystem and thusly make balancing easier if you really just wanna go for the mechanics to make it into D&D
Allomancy Examples include:
Emotional Allomancy (Brass, Zinc): various Enchantment spells, Friends, Charm Person, Calm Emotions, Cause Fear, Charms, clever use of Suggestion, etc
Lurchers/Coinshots: A mix of Fly, Levitate, Catapult, telekinesis, Locate Object, Warding Wind, Gust
