Any suggestions for taming a beast. My character wants to make like a zoo/ranch and just find ever a he can to bring back. This can range from owl bears, to bunnies, to his most desired, a displace beast. I' nnot sure how I feel about this though
There's not really specified rules for taming, but then, running a zoo doesn't actually require that the animals are tame, just that they can't or won't leave. If the player is more evil then they could go find and fight each creature, knock it unconscious and drag it back to its cage. If they are more good, perhaps steer them towards rescuing injured creatures or freeing beasts kept in terrible conditions and bringing them back to their more humane zoo for safer keeping. Either way, perhaps on arrival at the zoo an animal handling roll could be required for each new creature (DC based on CR) to see if the character is able to control and feed the thing sufficiently to keep it alive and contained.
It sounds like it might get a bit tedious, so if the player is committed then maybe just handwave the first few months of operation and assume they've caught a bunch of mildly interesting creatures, then require quests for the harder stuff. Perhaps keep an NPC Druid/ranger around who is willing to watch over the zoo so the player can continue to adventure.
