Thinking about major complaints to 2024 Paladin and Ranger, and it boils doing to bonus action economy.
A house rule I've played with in the past is rather than a static one action, one bonus action, one reaction it was one action plus a number of bonus actions equal to your proficiency bonus. It replenishes at the end of your turn, so that you can use any number of bonus actions as reactions (essentially making a reaction a type of bonus action that can only be done when it is not your turn). The other major rule would be you cannot use a bonus action to perform something that's already been done before IE you can't use the same bonus action multiple times in a single turn.
Because proficiency bonus scales with level, it can never truly get out of hand and by making the reaction more viable but rely on the same resource, it will encourage strategic use of the resource.
