Greetings fellow travelers! Today I come seeking input and advice to see what's good, what's bad, and what's OMG that's so broken nerf Bastion! For a Barbarian Path I've been brewing that pays homage to everybody's favorite flying lizards.
Path of the Dragon's Venerate (All names pending)
3rd level: Draconic Fury, Draconic Presence
6th level: Blood of the Drakes
10th level: Roar of the Ancient Drakes
14th level: Embodied Drake
Draconic Fury: At third level when you choose this path, you select a color or luster of a dragon whose strength and grandeur you wish to embody. While raging, you gain resistance to the element of that dragon's breath weapon, and as a bonus action, can inflict 1d4 damage of your equipped weapon's type to yourself to impart your weapon with 1d8+half your barbarian level of your dragon's elemental breath weapon damage to all your attacks for that round.
Draconic Presence: you gain proficiency with either Persuasion or Intimidation checks. If you are already proficient with one or more of these skills, you gain double proficiency instead.
Blood of the Drakes: The full might of dragons was never meant to be contained in such a tiny vessel. While raging, should an enemy within 5ft of you inflict melee damage against you, they take 1d8+half your barbarian level of elemental damage associated with your chosen dragon's breath weapon.
Roar of the Ancient Drakes: As a bonus action, you let loose a primal roar that shakes your enemies to their core. Until the start of your next turn up to ten creatures of your choice within 60ft of you and can hear you gain disadvantage on attack and saving throws. You cannot do so again until you complete a long rest.
Embodied Drake: You have learned to partially encompass the strength and majesty of your chosen drake. Beginning at 14th level, while raging, you may select one of the following draconic attributes to manifest as a bonus action for the next minute. You cannot do so again until you have completed a long rest:
Draconic Wings: You sprout wings from your back the same color or sheen as those of your chosen dragon. Giving you a flight speed equal to double your walking speed.
Draconic Might: Your strength stat becomes equal to that of an age variant of your chosen dragon whose CR is equal to or less than your Barbarian level. At level 20, you can access the Ancient variant's stat block.
Draconic Scales: Scales the same color or luster as your chosen dragon spread across your body. Granting you an armor class equal to that of an age variant of your chosen dragon whose CR is equal to or less than your Barbarian level. At level 20, you can access the Ancient variant's stat block.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts, advice, and criticisms! And may the chests you find be always full of loot, and bereft of tongues and teeth!
The level 20 ability is confusing on what it means based off how you worded it. I like level 14's abilities.
There should be a limit on blood of the drakes, like the player could use their reaction for the ability to activate or something like that, instead of the "I deal damage every time I take damage".
Also, I don't like the 3rd level ability. It doesn't really fit with the subclass theme as it's basically a blood hunter ability, and not really something for a dragon barbarian. It's also very powerful.
There isn't a level 20 ability. One of the options for level 14 is the ability to gain the Strength stat of an age variant (Young, Adult, Ancient) of the type of dragon you chose back at level 3 so long as that dragon's CR is at or below your level. But because at level 20 barbarians get a +4 to their Str and Con, and Ancients are typically a CR 23, that feature becomes kind of pointless so I'm giving them the option to take an Ancient dragon's strength stat as a congratulations for making it to 20.
I like the idea of Blood of the Drakes being a reaction! But instead of it being sent back at the target, how does it becoming a 5ft AoE sound? Because the lore/background I had in mind for this path was something along the lines of a warrior overflowing with draconic might/magic, after drinking/bathing in dragon's blood and/or eating the heart of a dragon. Pushing them into rages to try and expunge it.
As for the 3rd level ability, should I simply stick with the extra elemental resistance they get while raging? Or go with something like the Path of the Zealot's divine fury, but make it of their chosen dragon's element instead of radiant or necrotic?

Oh I was thinking the dragon scales option was level 20 lol. That ability confuses me.
I agree with something like that for the 3rd level ability.
