For the past two days, I've been writing out a race I may or may not feature in my own DnD Game. The Brobdingnagian, or Brobdin for short, were created and came out rather Setting Neutral, though they were very much made with Faerun in mind. The backstory on their creation stems from my enjoyment of the Goliaths, a fun race to play and made famous by such people like Travis with Grog.
However, I wanted to make a race that was a little different from them, more neutral, somber, and very much more viking. Thus, I was inspired to write the Half-Giants that are the Brobdin. I'm still working on them, but I'd be more than happy to hear feedback, as well as help fleshing out their story to make them feel more different from already established DnD Races.
I really like this Race. Not only does it combine already existing races that people love but it allows adventurers to go above and beyond normal restricitons. Good features and it all make sense but it would be nice to have a background, maybe a story of how they were created, a good idea would having them have a god like Odin who is level headed and practical and is also half giant. Having them have a background story will let players identify and roleplay with the character better.
Well, the Brobdin is a shorthand of the name Brobdingnagian. It means "Giant" with entomology linking to Guliver's Travels.
I chose Brobdingnagian as the name as kind of an ohmage to how most DnD things started. A different name for the same thing it was inspired from. This case Giants who are both kind of Norse and Celtic inspired.
The only trait I have a small issue with is heft of giants, because normally weapons would be resized to be appropriate to creature. This includes increasing damage dice and reach of weapon. But in context with the typically medium player race options, this is probably better balanced.

Hey, so this is my first time posting on the DnD Beyond forms.
I'm looking for feedback mechanically on my race, if anyone would be helpful to offer it.

But all in all I really do love this race but I have one question and it's not a complaint but I am curious why you picked the name THE BROBDIN

I think the bonus speed in addition to their ability score increase and other passive is a little unnecessary. I think 30 movement would be fine.
I also think wisdom makes more sense than strength for the racial ability mod.
Other than that, the concept behind it I actually really like. Its simple enough, but has enough of a core concept to still be interesting.
