Note before we start. I know it's Lolth and not Lolith. Lolith is a name that I have given her specifically, to distinguish my version of her from the version found in official lore.

Hi Guys,
I had this idea about some homebrewed law for Lolith. I was thinking that all existing and official law still remains true - what changes is the reason she did the things that ultimately resulted in her becoming what is is now.
My idea is this: Back when Lolith was known as Araushnee, she had been given a prophecy about the end of the world. She was told that the abyss would invade the world, bringing with all kinds of horrors. Demons and aberrations would sweep across the world and her people, The Seldarine and their creations (the elves) would be destroyed. She approached Corellon and told him what she had learned and suggested that elvenkind needed to change; that if they were to survive the end of the world, they needed to become stronger, more resilient, more capable of withstanding the horrors that had been described to her.
Corellon disagreed with Araushnee - believing instead that the people he had created, could outlast any horrors. His response to her was something along the lines of "I have given my children long life, beauty and grace. They are the light of the world that will shine all the brighter when the darkness comes." They argued back and forth for a while and eventually Corellon won that argument. Araushnee; left defeated, but she did not give up.
Convinced that she was saving her people, she began to teach some of the elves dark magic.
Eventually, Corellon found out what she had been doing behind his back and confronted her. This time though; Araushnee, would not back down. She had been preparing for this moment since her first defeat. She had made alliances with Grumesh and Malar and stirred the pot. Turning both of them against Corellon. Her intention was to start a war that would lead to the death of Corellon and her ascension to the sole ruler of the Seldarine - who she then planned to turn into Dark Seldarine.
Her plot to kill Corellon, almost succeeded but ultimately failed - as per existing official lore.
Araushnee was then banished by Corellon. She took with her the Seldarine who had chosen to follow her and all of the elves that she had managed to turn into Dark Elves. Eventually, she found her way into the abyss, where her desires to save her people, was twisted into dark desires of conquest. She fought against the demons and demon lords of the abyss, eventually winning a part of it for herself and becoming the Lolith that she is in current lore.
So - to save her people from monsters, she ultimately became a monster.
As a last twist to the tale - I want to also say that she was right. The Seldarine and the Elves, who chose not the follow her, will not have the strength to stand against the darkness when it comes. Only Lolith and her Dark Elves - (the Drow) - will have the power to draw a line in the sand and fight fire, with fire. Holding back the darkness of the abyss long enough for the other Gods and powerful entities of the world to finally take action - aiding the players (because they are the heroes of this story) in driving back the demon lords and the abyss and ultimately saving the world, and the rest of the light elves and Seldarine from total destruction.

So guys and gals of the DDB nethersphere, I am curious what you think of this homebrewed interpretation of the lore surrounding Lolith and her actions.
I've done a similar thing in my homebrew world of changing some but not all of the lore surrounding Lolth and the Drow. I like your interpretation, it's interesting and creates a tragic story for her and her followers. Ultimately, and I think others may offer the same sentiment, if you think it's cool for your world then that's what you should do!
This is great! I would think it was awesome if this was in my campaign. (Makes a great roleplaying idea: Elf cleric/warlock of Lolth that rejected his/her/their people to survive)

A caffeinated nerd who has played TTRPGs or a number of years and is very much a fantasy adventure geek.
