ok so I’m doing this character mainly light heartedly, we’re not doing a super serious playthrough which is why I wanna test out this idea I had.
so right now the concept is a character called The Wizards of 7, it is a group of 7 wizards that all that all talk in unison sometimes and all act completely the same. They have the same exact personality and is basically a hivemind type system.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a character that was similar to this and how I should balance it, rn these are my ideas of how I’ll do the character.
im going to have one overall sheet of a level 7 wizard (the campaign is starting off at level 7) this is the overall character that I’ll be referring to for when all the 7 wizards do one action. When the wizards are separated they will each be a level 1 wizard and each will have their own stat sheet and actions they can do.
when in combat if the wizards act as one they get one normal turn however if they act independently it is 1 turn per 2 wizards. This would be balanced by them being just 2 level 1 wizards with the abilities and heath of a level 1 wizard even though they’re in the environment of much higher levels.
also for leveling, each time they level up a new wizard just kind of appears (because this is a very light hearted and non serious character) and when I get to level 14 the wizards will fuse and become 7 level 2 wizards.
im really hoping someone has suggestions for this character (also don’t take the character too seriously this is a very not serious character)
Is there a background basis for the situation? Like was one Wizard at some point separated into 7 entities physically somehow?
I can't recall which edition it was (perhaps 3.5) but i recall specific magic for multi-casting or multiple wizards casting a single spell for higher power levels, that kind of thing. this could be an interesting element to these characters and seemingly fits. when they act in concert they are functionally a higher level wizard while if they are acting independently they are much lower power.
I think this sounds amazingly fun. I think working out a reason for the character existing in this odd fashion would help fine tune some of the information you're looking for.
Makes me think back to a multi-personality character I had way back when. Each morning they woke up to a dice role to determine which personality (i.e. Class) was dominant with the occasional freak luck roll giving them full access to all classes.
Look forward to any new developments!
(also makes me think of the episode of Teen Titans where Raven was separated by emotion type - that was funny.)

This makes me think of the delightful children from down the lane from kids next door.
