i have an idea for a DnD universe that has its own lore and am looking to (a) share the idea, and (b) have others contribute to it. I hope this is the place to post it.
the basic idea of the universe is a mashing together or any combination of existing DnD planes of existence, or any of your own creation. As a result the world, which spans infinitely in all directions (#flatworlder) has four ‘axes’. Like north east west and south, in this world the axes tends toward lawful, evil, good and chaos (respectively). As you venture further in any direction, the environment and the people change as a result of being ‘closer’ to that ‘pole’. For example, if you travel far enough in ththe chaos direction, physics might not be as sound, and magic may be more prevalent. Also people of natural chaotic alignments might live in these areas. Creatures that are lawful that venture here may not have the mind to survive.
likewise, if one was to venture toward the Good pole, you’d find creatures naturally inclined to goodness living there. If an evil creatures travels this way, the air literally starts to burn them, and theoretically at a certain point they burn from the inside out.
these are just off the cuff examples I’m making up right now. Anybody have any input for how to play this world? Or any other cool ideas to add to it? Possible campaigns?
Honestly, something like this is just so open ended it's kind of hard to offer suggestions. It's one of those things where the scope is so wide that it's hard to offer specific ideas.
