I've made a rather large number of homebrew magic items over the past week and a half or so under the assumption that if I wanted to make a weapon that granted you a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls, I would need to do two things:
Add a Damage modifier that has a fixed value of 1 (and the damage type of the base weapon).
Add a Bonus - Melee Weapon Attacks modifier that has a fixed value of 1.
I'm starting to question that second bullet point, though. I was playing around with other bonus damage related to specific monster types, and I took a look at an item I created with these modifiers in one of my test characters. I noticed that the HIT/DC column in the Actions section of my character sheet had the same modifier as with any of my mundane weapons and that the DAMAGE column did not account for the bonus damage, either. However, I did notice that the NOTES column included information about the bonus damage specific to certain monsters as well as about the +1 of the slashing, bludgeoning, or whatever type of damage the base weapon uses.
So my question after all this is, "Was my original assumption related to 2 correct and this is just a bug, or was I wrong about my initial assumption and there's a completely different modifier I was supposed to be using this entire time?"
Oh jeez. I just made a copy of the Longsword, +1 and saw exactly how that item was done. I was way off base on this one! Time to go back through the 200 items I made. :cryingbutalsolaughing:

Thanks!
