I'm running my second campaign within my homebrew setting. I've not done a lot of GMing but I have played a fair bit. Anyway.....This campaign is collaborative(something i saw on youtube) so at the end of each session the players share an idea of a magic item they once had, a monster that lives in this enviroment....etc. It's been working really well.
I'm looking for some feedback and suggestion for an encounter I'm work-in. Also tell me if you think this will work as an encounter or how you would do it differently
Little bit of background - The players are lvl3, underground in a part of the Underdark called the Big Sky. The mushrooms spores in the area are collected by bees that have made their home down here. As they store it in their hives the honey forms what is locally called Residium.(thanks Critical Roll) It can be used as a spell component and is valuable...it also makes a nice tea.
The players have to raid the Beehive....These bees aren't deadly on their own...They have been told by a local farmer that she lost one of her animals to the bee's, when she went to collect it it was paralyzed with no hope of rescue.
I've starting with a number of Bee's....lets say 1000
Depending on the players actions the number of bees reduces and their ability to affect the player decreases.
I think I could add special bees that add more stacks...or debuff.
If the players are stung enough they get a stacking -1 debuff to their checks as the venom starts to affect them
If they stay too long they will be paralyzed and will need saving by the rest of the party...one less body.
Anyway, I hope you like this idea...I know it's not you need to hit a 15 AC but i think it should be a fun encounter.
The table might not help as it's just a forming idea but i need to track it somehoow
