So, l had a idea for a magic item that, once per day, gives the benefits of a short rest, and once per in game week (or whatever timer the dm wants), gives the benefits of a long rest.
Thoughts? Is this op? l don't think so, but i want the advice of those with more exp with the game.
For some reason, I really like the idea of spending a minute (so you can't do it in the middle of combat) resting on the pillow or whatever it is, and you get the benefit of a short rest. And if you spend a short rest resting on the pillow, you can get the benefit of a long rest. After that, it's just a matter of tuning the reset on the item to whatever suits its power level.

So your characters suffer from a lack of short or long rests? If so, such an item might be useful. But if not, such an item becomes quickly OP.
If you're intent on making it, I might consider making it a consumable that has only one use. It can only be used by 1 person if it's consumable, of course, but this makes it even more valuable, as something should be that can give such insane benefits. After all, what if you give this item to a warlock? They'll be regaining way more spell slots. Which may be worth it to your game, but I know in mine I'd never allow such a thing.

Yeah, the original idea was a "Rest berry" that could be eaten to gain the effects, but after the above comment, l turned it into a pillow. Also, to balance it, it can only give the effects of one short rest per person per day. (The whole party can use it to take a short rest once per day, though they have to take turns with it)
