Game: D&D 5e w/ homebrew elements particularly in combat
Type: Online game - Discord/Zoom + Owlbear for maps
Experience: DM has several years experience with several different TTRPGs. Players are a mix of experienced to brand new. No preference if you are new or experienced
Timezone: DM is EST but group is from all over - no preferences
Schedule: This is the big one. DM's work schedule changes from week to week. Cannot dedicate to playing on any 1 day consistently. Therefore it's important players be able to have a little flexibility. We typically play around 8pm EST to accommodate the west coasters. DM usually posts all his days off and the group votes on a day to play based on who can make it. There may be times when the group plays without someone. But we try to be as accommodating as possible.
Roles sought: 1-2 players that wanna have fun. Couples are welcome.
Gametype: DM tends to favor combat but always allows for creative ways to problem solve. RP is welcome but not mandatory. It's really whatever the group finds fun.

This is going to be a Lost Mines of Phandelver play through with some homebrew elements (mostly to combat). Levels 1-6. Hoping to play 2-4 sessions a month (or more!). We're all friendly and mostly casual. DM is not averse to killing characters; but does not go out of his way to do so. Stat array or point buy; no monstrous characters, no Unearthed Arcana. Please have a backup second character in case # 1 bites the big one. Allocate yourself the starting equipment as stated in the class feature but do not pick a pack - planning on giving players some gold to purchase individual items and will go over them with each player individually.
Homebrew elements in case you're wondering:
Will have encumbrance but the DM's own special spin. Will have modifications to weapons, mostly homebrewed special effects on criticals Health potions take an action but will heal for max (ie no rolling; 2d4+2 will just grant 10 hp) Will be tracking food, consumables; ie arrows, torches Being knocked unconscious will net players a level of exhaustion each time it happens Death saving throws will be rolled by players but in secret; it will not be public knowledge at the table Hit points won't be discussed at the table; this is to be kept secret during play to promote the importance of healer/potion choice Initiative won't be influenced by Dex - it will most likely be a combination of Athletics and armor being worn. ***If there are more it'll be discussed before the game - the above is what can be remembered off the top of my head.***
Got to be honest, this seems interesting but the main reason I replied were some of the homebrew rules. I'm a bit of a forever DM, have played bits and pieces of almost all the D&D editions and the encumbrance rules bug the heck out of me. There's no way the paladin can march for 8 hours with plate mail, 2 halberds and 10,000 gp, it's just ridiculous. Anyway, this sounds fun, I run a small homestead, so my nighttime schedule is usually wide open. I run a Zoom game on Mondays, so that would most likely be a no go every week, otherwise I should mostly be available. I'm pretty flexible about race and class, and pretty easy to get along with. The only 5e character I got to play much was a tanky Dwarven healer who was horribly betrayed at the end of his journey, so I'm excited to play anything but that. Send me a DM if you are interested or want to discuss character ideas, but either way, good luck finding your extra players. Not sure if this matters to y'all but I'm 34, male, and LGBTQ friendly, plus just sort of friendly in general.
Hi! This sounds like so much fun and I'd love to join!
I played DnD for a while about two years back, in some scattered one-shots, and am trying to get back into it. I also have a pretty chaotic schedule (but only for the next couple of weeks) so I totally get it. I love playing druids or clerics, but I have a couple bolder (aka more chaotic) characters, depending on what would work better with the party.
