The year is 2007 and the world feels different. Japan, the land of splendors, has changed. Anime, manga, and video games, once niche, are going mainstream. They’re crossing borders, showing up in stores overseas, in classrooms and dorms, shaping fashion and music. Akihabara becomes a hotspot, packed with tourists hunting rare doujinshi, grabbing limited-run games, chasing the magic they’ve only seen on screen. To get closer, people log on. Forums and imageboards explode. Friendships form in the glow of CRT monitors and inside net cafes that never close. The internet is alive and a bit chaotic, full of strange usernames with the occasional late-night rant. A connection that you feel more than explain. But not everywhere moves at the same pace.

In Sendai, a place rooted in tradition, the shift barely registers. The capital of Miyagi Prefecture sits quiet, under cherry blossoms and old legends. It holds its stories close. Most were buried after the earthquake. Two years have passed since then. The streets are clean. The lights work. But the cracks are showing. It starts small. A forum thread about a shadow near the station. A blurry photo of a yokai that someone swears is real. Missing posters and people vanishing into the night to never return home. There's no answers. Just blue tarps and yellow tape. Police say nothing. The news ignores it. But 2channel doesn’t. Night after night, you scroll. Same usernames, same reports, tall silhouettes, warped features, incessant whispers. And you know it too. The frame of Sendai is cracking. Something’s breaking through. Something malevolent.

And I fear it's to late to stop it.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Onset of Malediction is a campaign designed over five years of play. It draws upon three interconnected settings: Lineage of the Cursed, World of Anathema, and Broken Vows. This is a composite world where I use hard worldbuilding to establish the setting, complete with its own locations, lore, factions, and legacy characters.

This is meant to be a collaborative experience, aside from me, you'll be working closely with other players to form a party, so be ready for that.

The campaign is designed for asynchronous play over Discord. If you’re new to Play by Post, I’ll guide you through every step to get you grounded and immersed.

Playing the Game:

The campaign is run on Discord using Owlbear Rodeo as the VTT and the Avrae bot, though I’m open to using Roll20 or other VTTs, as well as DiceMaiden or other rolling bots if you prefer. Posts are made throughout the week at your pace, making the campaign more accessible than traditional voice based sessions. Since it’s all text based, it’s easy to jump in and play on your schedule. I provide at least 2 - 3 posts per day, especially as you get familiar with my style and the play by post format.

What I Bring to the table as Your Dungeon Master:

🧵Over 6 years of group storytelling from tables as small as two to as large as nine, I'll have no problem giving each character their spotlight and connecting their stories to ongoing events.

🗣️An author who has worked with the likes of Telltale Games. I have over 6 years of character writing under my belt, whether a noble, or peasant, every character has a motivation and history to unfold if you're curious enough to engage with them.

👥Rivals and antagonists! You will encounter a slew of various foes to overcome; however, among them, you may find a nemesis or a protagonist who will challenge your spotlight. They'll push you to develop, to grow.

We'll discuss boundaries clearly, what's off limits and what stays off-screen.

You're always encouraged to call for breaks when needed, no questions asked.

You’re free to pause, step away, or leave at any time if something feels off.

After intense scenes or heavy moments, I check in with players either in-chat or via DM to make sure everyone feels okay. You're welcome to share how you’re feeling or ask for cooldown time, your emotional safety matters just as much as your character’s survival.
