Game: D&D 5e (2014 on my end, you're welcome to use 2014 or 2024 for classes/spells!) Group type: Online Experience: Any welcome! I have 20yrs exp playing, 15 DMing, and about 5 DMing professionally! Location/Timezone: PST Schedule: Biweekly Fridays at 6pm PST (time can be adjusted by an hour or two if needed!) Roles sought: 3-4 Players Game style: RP Heavy, Political Intrigue, Character and story focused
The young prince's birth was always seen as a bad omen; there was a prophecy of the kingdom's ruin on violet wings, and the child was born with violet feathers.
Only 23 years later, the Emperor and Empress are dead from a terrible storm at sea. For their long lived race, crowning the young prince as Emperor at just 23 is akin to crowning a toddler. On top of everything, there is a sudden rise in monster attacks. Concerns for the kingdom's welfare are once again brought to the surface; could that prophecy be true?
You are hired by the young Emperor of Haizea-la to act as his warriors. Sometimes, his personal guards. Most times, Divine Hunters, chosen by the Divine Emperor to purge the land of darkness.
You will explore not just the misty mountains of Haizea-la, but soon you will help other kingdoms with their monsters: the floodplains of Galia-li, the singing forests of Inbal-ya, the snowcapped mountains of Sarangerel, its sister kingdom in the vast desert Narangerel, fey-filled woods of Rajan-an-Pranee, the volcanic beaches of Azara-ka, and the fungal forests of Lian-Lian.
Emperor Garaile Haize-la: The young Emperor - at least, young to elves. An Avariel whose kingdom sits atop misty mountaintops at the heart of the continent of the Isle of Kings. He is polite and kind, a bit naive at times, but also quite stubborn.
Princess Amaia Haizea-la: The elder sister to the young Emperor. By right of kings, she was not permitted to take the throne despite being the more competent and eldest of the pair. She is soft spoken and tends to stay in the background, with a knack for magic.
Rule of Cool Reigns: Not necessarily a house rule, but just a reminder that if you want to do something fun and crazy, give it a shot! Let's ******* go!! I don't care about the rules!!!
I know a guy...: If you think your character might know someone that could be helpful in a situation, make it happen! Say "I know a guy," or something along those lines, and we'll come up with this new npc that you know that can help your party.
Beyond My Limits: If you want to try and do something you technically can't (cast something at a higher level that you can't cast at yet, do something that isn't necessarily a spell or ability, or some crazy shit like revive someone when you otherwise literally cannot), ask! Oftentimes, I'll agree at a cost - exhaustion, several spell slots, something else... who knows. It all depends on the gravity of the situation and the feat you're trying to accomplish.
We Do It: i'd like to try introducing a new house rule/option to these games: if a puzzle, task, etc is getting too much, and you Just Aren't Feeling It and want to get through it, you can invoke "We Do It." everyone will vote, and if the majority agrees, then we'll skip the puzzle, etc. this will be limited to one per session (for now while we try it out), but by no means does that mean "let's skip everything that's a challenge". this is for if you all get stuck on something, your rolls are shit, or youre just not feeling figuring the thing out. this can be vetoed by me, but likely won't because i also hate puzzles
D&D SPECIFIC Potions: Using a potion on yourself is a bonus action; using one on someone else is an action
Bonus Action as Action: Bonus Actions are "quick" actions, so it makes sense to me that if you want to use a BA in place of an A you can! (so if you wanted to both BA misty step and then BA, in lieu of an A, bardic inspiration, you can!)
Critical Fumbles: You can opt out if you want! I think they're fun! If you roll a nat 1 on an attack or something important, I'll have you roll a d6. if you roll a 1, you get a critical fumble - I don't have a list, I usually go by situation (oftentimes: you aim an attack at an enemy, miss, and hit a friend; OR your weapon gets stuck and you have to grab it again/etc)
Making Potions: If you want to make potions, you'll need proficiency in a related tool (herbalism, alchemy, poison). Making potions is cheaper but more time consuming, as you will usually need a long rest to make them. Buying ingredients is half the price of the potion itself, OR can be foraged for along travel periods.
Double Spellcasting: You can cast leveled spells twice in a turn if you so desire, Baldur's Gate style! No "one leveled spell, one cantrip" limit. (edited)Wednesday, March 20, 2024 8:13 AM
