The city of Ardor was nearly destroyed when caught between two clashing gods. As a result of their fight, a permanent swirling tempest of souls rages over the foreign city. Citizens and travels run the risk of being possessed by the restless spirits while traveling through the region. The Celestial Magnate who leads the city and country has tasked her court mages with finding a solution to closing the portal. This is another dangerous decision in a current line of events resulting in the mysterious mages gaining more political power. As faithful servants of their Magnate, the party has decided to protect the mages as they excavate a newly discovered magical material from the ruins beneath Ardor's castle.
About the Campaign
Brother in Arms is also known as Group B. The campaign is apart of the Ilderon Tales Campaign Style created to allow large-scale storytelling across multiple groups and campaigns. The simplest explanation would be a meta-narrative much like the Marvel Cinematic Universe structured in a way to allow the individual players and groups to be the heroes and focus of each branching story. The players that play in this particular branch of the campaign are faithful knights of the newly appointed Celestial Magnate who functions essentially as the queen of the region they're in. The players witness the last two magnates be assassinated, and they picked and appointed this new ruler, so they protect her with a fervor that can only be described as a parent's love. This group has a heavy focus on roleplaying and storytelling.
About the Group
If you like wild extravagant tales with high stakes you will be at home in this group. This group focuses heavy on storytelling and how their decisions have a geopolitical impact on the rest of the world. That said, they make some of the hardest decisions that lead to the best moments of roleplay. Every character will have their morals challenged and get to decide if their principles stand up to being tested.
About the World
From humanity’s first steps on Seadale to the ruins of dead empires sleeping under the sands of Galken, Ilderon has been a lost plane isolated in the vast darkness of the multiverse. Shrouded in mystery, not much is known about how the plane came into existence. Gods and mortals walk the lands and sail the seas of the material plane while untold horrors remain locked away out of sight in an endless demi-plane known as the Bridge.
The entirety of existence was once united behind the Goddess of creation, but in her silence humanity found new gods. When the dire conflicts of history called for heroes, four mortals answered the call and Ascended to the status of deities. The wars that birthed the great heroes birthed even greater foes who still inhabit Ilderon and continue to stir the winds of chaos.
The country-sides have survived war after war and shattering after shattering. However, nothing changed the landscape of Ilderon more than the Second Shattering. While the world survived, a new race of half-man half-undead monstrosities spawned. The remnants of the war left sentient soul eating beings known as Tierii wandering around the world. Neither good, nor evil, the undead people struggle to find their place in Ilderon amongst its clashing political powers, old gods, new Ascended Gods, timeless beings, and broken-but-not-defeated humans who all roam the material plane trying to survive the building storm.
About the DM
Howdy doodles! I have been DM'ing for nearly a decade. I am a very story focused and RP heavy dungeon master. With a background in stand up comedy and writing Epic Fantasy fiction I bring a unique flavor of off-centered storytelling to the table. My favorite type of games to run are political thrillers, my general philosophy: the scariest thing is not the monster lurking in the cave, but the scariest thing is what the unsuspecting person next to you is willing to do.
Tipping is Encouraged but not expected
This game encourages tipping the Game Master at a rate of whatever you want via Paypal or Patreon. Dndbeyond is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
Just as some people decide to go to a movie theater on a Friday night, dnd can provide the same entertainment, but 10,000 times more engaging. When you have a proper DM who pours their soul into a campaign and works tirelessly to tell an expanding story with the players, the experience is nearly indescribable. I put a massive amount of time into making sure the world feels fluid and immersive. Tipping allows a dungeon master more financial flexibility in their life so that they can devote more time to the game they are running to ensure it is of a high quality and that the story and fun meets and exceeds player expectations.
What Can you expect?
Consistency and high-quality storytelling. I believe when you join our community of groups, players become more invested in attending the sessions and being engaged and actively participating in roleplay at the table. One of the things that really defines the experience is how much fun it is to see how one party's decisions cascade and affect other parties moving around the world at the same time.

- Please include your discord username. - Previous level of D&D Experience. - Favorite aspect of D&D - Preferred class - Preferred Alignment Optional: - Two paragraph summary of a character idea or character's backstory if you have one in mind.
Finally here is the intro document to the first session and our campaign discord, I look forward to playing with you!
- Discord: Arkangel 1296. - Experience in 5e Adventure League sessions and running an on/off campaign for Curse of Strahd and Storm King's Thunder - The gamer in me enjoys the combat while the introvert in my likes the chance of disappearing into another world with Role Playing - Open to any class - Open to rp'ing any alignment Optional: I can come up with an improvised background story once I pick a class/race that would fot the world and the party.
Experience: Im not extremely experienced, but I have about 150 in game hours in 5e (Roll20 records it, handily) And am a fairly quick learner.
Favourite Aspect of D&D: Cooperative storytelling. I love the unique way DND combines story telling with player interaction. And my absolute favourite thing in game, followed by a close second of RPing, is to picture the scenario, the characters, the landscape, anything. I just love having a visual, whether presented or entirely in my own imagination.
Preferred Class: In order of descending preferance, Fighter - Battlemaster, Barbarian - Zealot, Barbarian - Any, Fighter - Brute (If permitted), however Im fine with anything.
Preferred Alignment: Good (For this character idea), but Im totally happy with any alignment.
Optional (Character Summary): The character idea that is most prevelant to me at the moment is an aged 40+ Fighter Battlemaster, who has strong moral values regarding theft, murder, betrayal, etc. He is a (formal?) soldier, and is fiercly loyal, but he will never sacrifice the lives of innocents to save the life of one. He is fairly easy going and is very calm under pressure, he also feels an obligation to help. He is very stoic when under extreme pressure, and does not act emotionally - often making decisions that are tactically sound but are questionable from a moral standpoint. He will never betray his word, no matter what. However when gambling, his normal composure fades and tempers flare. Additionally, if any sort of common hard narcotic is prevelant in this world, he has had his *interactions* with it.
Backstory needs a lot of world information to even make sense, so none yet.
Hey buddy! Thanks for takin the time to read my app over. If you'll have me I would love to join in and become a part of this story. Lookin forward to your response!
Experience: I have both played and game mastered 5e as well as played 2e but they were rules lite and lots of homebrew. I would consider myself new even though I do GM a very inconsistent group most Sundays (Tyranny of Dragons. I especially want to playpla a group with an experienced GM so I can not only play but learn and pass on that knowledge to my home group.
Favorite aspect: It's really hard to put into words all that I love about D&D. I love everything. I grew up in a very creative family setting, which I think puts most of my love on the role play of the game. The gamer in me also finds lots of joy in combat. However if I had to choose my favorite part of D&D is the feeling I get when I make a truly compelling character that people have strong feelings towards (positive or negative).
Preffered class: I have no preference on class. Having GM'd for a little over a year I have a folder of character ideas I would love playing.
Preffered alignment: Again no preference. I tend to view alignment more as general guidelines of how my characters act since most situations are far more gray than black and white. If anything my characters latch more heavily on to one aspect of their alignment. Law>good or evil>chaos as examples
Quick character ideas:
Noble high elf bladesinger- lawful evil. Uses mostly illusion and enchantment magic to manipulate people in order to advance his goals.
Soldier gnome paladin- lawful good. Oath of ancients. Tasked by the Autumn Court to protect the land and spread the name of the King of the Autumn Court. Rides a large rabbit from the Fae Wilds.
Teifling monk- drunken master- neutral. Parents were killed early on for being teiflings. Was raised by monks and learned martial arts and how to brew mead. Wears symbols of bees on his clothes and uses a boxing heavy fighting style.
Thank-you for the applications!! Argore I sent messages out to the first two people who applied, but I'm still waiting to hear back from Stache. So if I have another spot I'll let you know. But you're more than welcome to join the discord and hangout and talk.

Experience: I GM a 5e group in a more or less consistent basis (thrice or twice a month), in a mostly homebrewed setting but using the full rules. Never had a single character, though, which is something I've been really meaning to do.
Favorite Aspect of D&D: I enjoy the roleplaying aspect and specially the room for improvisation of the game. The liberty one has in creating a character and the ways stories can go depending on the choices that are made are the best things about it.
Preferred Class: Warlock, with any patron. I' also always wanted to try playing an Artificer, though I understand if that's not viable since the class is not even back in this site yet.
Preferred Alignment: Neutral, mostly Chaotic Neutral, True Neutral or Neutral Good. Wouldn't be opposed to playing other alignments, though.
Character Idea: Lizardfolk Warlock (Archfey patron). Expected to be the next shaman of its tribe due to its affinity for magic, its enjoyment for causing chaos and confusion through not always good-natured pranks caused constant attrition with others. An Archfey took interest in a lizardfolk with such predilection for mischief, and offered to sponsor his antics. One prank gone too far, and it finally came the time for it to flee from the swamps. It now works as a mercenary or thief or anything between, to increase its money so that it can better finance its schemes, and maybe one day get enough pocket change to hire someone that could send it to the Feywild, so it could visit its patron's home.
Tiefling Artificer (Gunsmith). A natural tinkerer with a penchant for mechanical devices. Ever since she saw a warforged, she become obsessed with the idea of creating artificial life. Coming from humble (though not pauper) origins, she found it difficult to find formal tutelage in the area. She did, however, learned a good deal through experimentation and, sometimes, by breaking into the workshops of other artificers and borrowing their notes. Once she made her first thunder cannon, she set out in the world in order to find her fortune, either by offering her skills as a mechanic, or her skills at blowing things apart with arcane bullets.
I can come up with different characters if neither of these fit the setting, of course!
This post is still active. Still have one spot open. Will be looking to send you a message Argore if you're still interested. I am still fielding applications if anyone else wants to apply and will be messaging you next sagus after Argore. Thank-you everyone for the interest!
