DM: @Kuro#5281 Date/Time: Varies weekly, we poll every week, usually for times between 9 am and 7 pm EST Starting level: 1 Edition: 5th Homebrew/UA: Races from the Plane Shift documents and some UA options are allowed. Players: I am looking for 3 players.
Gameplay. We are looking for players who want to immerse themselves in their characters and the worlds that they interact with. If you just show up to crack meta jokes and hang out with folks, then this campaign is probably not for you. While occasional jokes are fine as our group is quite light hearted, we generally strive for an immersive experience for all of us. That is why out of character talks during sessions ought to be held to a minimum. Asking questions and clarifying rules and such is obviously fine. You do not have to change your voice or speak with an accent, if you are not comfortable doing that, but you will be expected to speak in 1st person, as if you were speaking for your character. Setting. We play in the Magic: the Gathering universe. Magic offers way more worlds than just Ravnica and Theros and we will explore many of those planes in this campaign. Your character will be a planeswalker who can travel between these worlds. Story. The stakes on lower levels won't be very high, so you can enjoy exploring the world and the characters within. That being said, there will still be some sense of purpose for what you are doing on your adventures. This campaign will reach higher levels and the more your character progresses in this sense, the more existential the threats you face will become. As you probably guessed it by now, this campaign won't be a sandbox. There will be leading elements introduced by me for the group. However, that does not mean that your decisions within these adventures won't matter. The outcomes will depend on your actions and they probably will change the course of the campaign or create conflicts. All that is fine, as long as it stays in character and it does not undermine the entire campaign. Your character wants to go on these adventures, so it is on you as a player to figure out why that is the case and to make it feel natural for your character. Character. Your character is expected to have a proper backstory and multiple NPC bonds that we could come back to in order to explore your backstory and find resolution for unfinished business in your pasts. This is very likely to be the case, because planeswalker sparks usually ignite as a result of an intense traumatic experience. You should want to dive deep into your character and push for their development and progression. Your character will face their greatest fears, their flaws will be exposed when it is least convenient and their ideals will be tested. Combat. Encounters will be handled with a theatre of the mind approach. If you need and expect me to give you exact feet for positioning, so you can re-create a grid in your head, then you probably won't enjoy this approach. Don't sweat ranges and distances much as I will usually rule these things in your favor. The goal here is to make combat encounters feel more cinematic and have you keep roleplaying during combat instead of just rolling dice and calling your actions. The combat will still be challenging and I will try to design encounters in a way that will give you meaningful tactical choices with trade-offs.
Note: I will only accept players who are familiar with at least one Magic plane and who are excited to explore more of them.
