Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: I've been playing for 14 years. Looking for players who at least know the basic rules. Location/Timezone: 7pm PST Schedule: Sundays Roles sought: 6 players Game style: Equal mix of RP and Combat. Apply only if you like both.
Campaign pitch:
You live on the high fantasy world of Kryss. It has Dragons, Gods, and Magic weapons that burn with eldritch fire. Its a planet where heroes are made and villains of immortal power hold entire nations within their clutching grip. There's just one problem: its all a scam.
You are members of a movement known only as The Grand Conspiracy. It posits that there is no such thing as magic, and that everything that appears fantastical has a mundane explanation. Some possible examples: Elves are just humans who act smug and wear fake ears, Dragons are just big chickens that the dwarves dress up to scare away thieves, and you only think you can cast spells because the King is putting hallucinogens in the water supply!
This must be stopped. You must tear the wool from the sheeples eyes! To this end you and your companions founded a detective agency to investigate these so-called “fantastical” events and expose them for the frauds they really are. And if your detective agency somehow resembles an adventuring band investigating dungeons for loot and fighting monsters well then that's just what the media wants you to think!
Behind the Scenes:
This campaign will be a DnD 5e game on roll20 using discord for voice. I would like this campaign to be a light-hearted skewering of traditional fantasy tropes by coming at them from the lens of players who are irrationally skeptical. This will not be a trauma dungeon of edgy suffering. Although I encourage and accept full well-rounded RP this campaign will always keep at least one eye on absurd situational comedy.
As the DM I'll be the straight man to your characters who are not your normal everyday adventurers. To that end I'd like each of you to come up with your own personal conspiracy that your trying to prove in this world. Examples include: “My patron is actually an alien who put a transmitter in my skull.” Or “My father wasn't cursed by a magic sword to leave me forever he just had commitment issues.” Something like that. This will combine with the overarching goal of your group which is to prove The Great Conspiracy. The Setting is homebrew but borrows a lot from Eberron.
About me: My name is Joe. I'm 31 years old (he/him). I've been playing DnD and running campaigns since I was 17 and am currently running another campaign with a great group of people.
Expectations/RulesRule 1: No graphic depictions of sex. Not between DM and Player or Player and player. You break this rule you're out. No discussion.
What I expect from my players:
Be on time If you're going to miss a session you need to tell me beforehand, skipping sessions without telling me will be grounds for getting kicked.
Be Respectful Just because this campaign has an absurd comedic premise doesn't mean you get to act like an *******. Be kind to one another and remember we're all here to have fun.
Be Prepared We'll be starting this campaign at level 3. I expect everyone to know the basic rules of dnd and Roll20 and not expect me to do work/look things up that they could do themselves. Everyone forgets abilities and has to look things up from time to time but if its becoming clear you don't or wont take the time to learn what you need to know on your own by session 4 then It'll be a problem.
What my players can expect from me:
I will always be on time and prepared for our sessions.
I will always treat you with respect whatever your background/identity and take personal triggers and preferences into consideration when making the campaign
I will work together with you to create an awesome collaborative story.
Date/scheduling: My games usually run 3-4 hours with a ten minute break in the middle. In the attached google form you'll select what dates you have available and I'll select a group that has at least one day free in common. Make sure you're actually free on those dates.
Race/class restrictions: None. But all your characters believe in the core theme of the campaign that there are conspiracies in the world. You will all have different explanations/theories why you believe that but your character has to buy in and work together as a team.
Although I won't be applying because the time doesn't work for me, I just want to thank you for showing how to properly do a campaign pitch.
Not 18+... So I won't be applying, but I wanted to echo this sentiment because so few people put time into their pitches and it is very clear that you did.
