Idk, doubt this will ever happen, but do you guys think a official brawler type (sub)class could ever happen? Like, I’ve read tons of suggested builds for it using existing stuff, many of them are really good, just thought it would be cool if dnd ever made it official. Am I the only one who thinks this? Thanks for your feedback!
I'm in your same situation, but I think the best way is to have many positive ratings and comments, practically to be accepted by many as a playable and balanced subclass.
I'm wondering what you mean by Brawler, or rather is this the right class for it to be a subclass? Did you mean to be over on Fighter page? I'm genuinely asking because when I think of Brawler I think of previous editions or Pathfinders Brawler which I think was a version/archetype of Fighter (that was one of the criticisms of previous ed monks (not sure about 4e though) that you could make a better monk out of a fighter than the monk and that archetype became Brawler.
If you just mean that you'd like a more hands on, in your face fighting Monk you could check out my Homebrew in this Forum. Way of the Closed Fist which is my more agressive/hands on version of the Way of The Open Palm sub class. Its not official and I doubt it has chance of becoming that but it might be somewhere near the ball park of what you are looking (its also a work in progress so suggestions are welcome). I also posted an older build "Way of the Empty Hand" along time ago, though I think its still somewhere on this forum, in which I tried to really concentrate on the unarmed fighting. Some of the ideas there are less polished versions of what can be found in Closed Fist but others I think were not. I may take a crack at that build again in future.
If I'm completely wrong and this was not what you meant by a Monk Brawler then sorry. I've only seen Brawler as a Fighter so I really can't be sure what you were looking
My new creation, allows you to create a martial arts fighter with techniques and style of personal choice making your character unique even if in the same subclass.
The multi choices of skills allow the player to create a fast fighter that does damage, or a tank fighter or a mix of the two. This allow the player to explore the same subclass several times. At first I thought it was a good idea, but too many choices do not conform to the dnd 5e system.
But I must also say that this subclass for me is a way of finding a solution to the monk's shortcomings and giving him an image of a true martial arts fighter. Where every attack have special thing like a spell. I'm not saying we should go back to 4e (that was too messed up) but a small choice of 3 - 4 moves can help and enhance the interaction of the player and his character in the role. This does not apply only to the monk but for all classes that have only one standard way of attack.
