Welcome! This will be the out of character thread for the D&D Roguelike campaign. Post any questions or topics for discussion here to keep the main thread cleaner. I think we'll also keep discussion about which room to enter/what reward to choose here unless y'all feel strongly about wanting that in the main thread. I just think it'll be best to keep the main thread only for posting actions your characters take and final decisions on the choices. Here are some more general rules for the campaign that I haven't mentioned yet:
In order to have combat go quicker and decrease the chances of having to wait on one person I'm going to try not using the normal initiative system. I think we'll alternate between players and enemies, where on the PC turn anyone who hasn't gone in that round is allowed to take their turn (similar to turn-based games like XCOM if anyone is familiar). For example if the PCs are Jane, Bob, Sue, and Joe a round of combat could be Sue -> Goblin -> Bob -> Orc -> Joe -> Mind Flayer -> Jane -> Beholder, and then to start the next round any of the 4 PCs would be able to take their turn (assuming nobody just got disintegrated). I know this may not seem ideal, and I'm open to other ideas, but I've had bad experiences with play by post in the past where everyone else is ready but we have to wait days for one person to take their turn.
Try not to metagame. I'm less concerned about it here than I would be in a more RP-focused game, but also this game is designed to be about learning and improving so it makes sense to me that your character wouldn't just magically know not to hit the flesh golem with a lightning bolt. Just use your best judgement and when in doubt ask me.
I'm currently planning on not using combat maps. I would probably prefer to use some form of visualization but so far haven't found a good way to do that for this type of game. If anyone with more play by post experience has any suggestions, let me know.
Rewards will be party-based, meaning the party will be given a pile of gold for a gold reward, or one single item for an item reward. Based on your responses to the survey, this group will split gold rewards but often pool resources for purchases. Additionally, it looks like this group will discuss choices and jointly agree on decisions. It may be best to define how many people need to post in agreement on a choice before moving on just to speed things up, but that's totally up to you all and this can be developed/evolved as we play.
This will be a faster paced game, with everyone saying they can post at least multiple times per day. Based on responses it looks like everyone will be comfortable with saying that anyone who goes 48 hours without posting I will take a turn for them. Let me know if you disagree.
Additionally, it looks like everyone will be comfortable with allowing 10 days with no activity and no communication before I begin looking for a replacement player. Again, let me know if you disagree or have anything to add.
Respond here with any questions/concerns. Introduce yourselves if you want to, maybe let us know what class you want to play at the start.
Sup! You can call me Math (because sometimes you don't wanna type a ton out)... This will be awesome! I have a monk planned that I wanted to test out (It's in the campaign)... but I don't mind playing a charisma based class (bard/paladin/warlock/sorcerer) if someone else is gung ho on a monk.

Thanks for letting me in! I'm Thalai, nice to meet you. My character is going to be a moon druid who will also heal. I'm also fine with choosing another direction if it helps the party!

Who do we want to chose to answer which door we want in the main forum post?
Also now thinking about it, do we want to use this forum post for these OOC discussion or do we want to use a group private message for an OCC thread, so no one possibly misses an update. Mainly due to the fact that DDB only shows the last 5 updates on the notification bell?

Hey guys! Thanks for having me. I’m Byakko. I’m not set for a certain class so I can wait for the party to decide then fill in any roles needed.
Sounds good and am looking forward to this, should be entertaining.

My character is ready! I’m playing a gloomstalker ranger.
Anyone has a preference which door to go in? I say the sword door.
If I had to guess the sword door has a magic weapon reward and the armor has a magic armor reward... I have no preference...

Sword door sounds good to me.

I am good either way but it might help things.
Sword door then
When players get creative.
I made an OOC PM group that we can use and posted in the Gameplay thread that we are going through the sword door...
