Greetings, Gamers!

I am starting a new PbP campaign, set in a homebrew world I’m calling AGE OF RESURGENCE.

(If you have already perused these materials in the development thread, please note, there is now additional info regarding Humans, Cats & Chimps. Also, the last 3 pages are new and give information regarding the specific zone of play for most of this adventure. Lastly, Machiavellian is now spelled correctly.)

I am seeking 4 players for an adventure called TRACING THE PAST. It will be a 50/50 mix of action and role-playing. Here is a trailer:

Orraca u Shia is a land with history, some of it known, and some long forgotten. There, the dry sheraji blows off of the Vishek a Voss, whispering north along the Awhar Coast to the Vale of Deshar, where a young girl finds an unexpected link to the past. The artifact makes its way to the city of Isha Ammah, piquing the awareness of those who have sought across eons for the answer to its creation. The chase begins, the mystery deepens, and all eyes are on the unknown heroes who, alone, can change the path of destiny.   

Caveat from the outset: I haven't run anything in years, and this is my first PbP, so I might stretch your patience with technical stuff!

Here are some parameters for all characters:

• Start at 1st Level.
• Only Good or Neutral characters.
• Only Players Handbook Classes are allowed, with some restrictions and 3 Homebrew Races which are variants of Gnomes, Halflings and Half-Orcs (Cats, Chimps, and Jenghen respectively). See below for more info.
• Complex motivations, please (i.e., not just “Orcs killed my parents. I hate orcs.”).
• When thinking of backgrounds, society is closer to Renaissance Era than Medieval times, although there is no gunpowder in this world.

Additional parameters listed by race:

Humans

• Any PHB class allowed except Eldritch Knight and Necromancer.
• Barbarian class is exclusive to Humans.
• Wizards and Monks will be from The Human Kingdoms, (i.e., abroad) with this homebrew addition:  Begin with up to 3 additional cantrips at 1/10 strength (called “charms”), maximum of 1d2-1 damage. (INT 8-12: 1 charm; INT 13-15: 2 charms; INT 16-18: 3 charms).
• Wizards cannot select Necromancer as their Arcane Tradition.
• All other classes will be from the Central Coast, where the adventure begins.

Elves

• Any PHB class allowed, except Barbarian.
• Wizards must be Divination tradition.
• Eldritch Knight subclass is exclusive to Elves.

Dwarves

• Any PHB class allowed, except Barbarians, Rogues, Monks, or Eldritch Knights.
• Wizards must be Transmutation tradition.

Cats

• Follow all character creation rules for Gnomes except the following:
• Any PHB class allowed except Barbarians, Monks, or Eldritch Knights
• Wizards must be Illusion tradition.
• Lifespan is similar to humans.
• Unarmed attacks deal slashing damage instead of bludgeoning.
• Cats usually fall on their feet. They have advantage against being knocked prone.

Chimps

• Any PHB class allowed, except Wizards, Barbarians, Monks, or Eldritch Knights.
• Follow all character creation rules for Halflings except:
• In a pinch, feet can be used to grasp an item. Chimps usually wear shoes like other civilized folk.

Jenghen

• Follow all character creation rules for Half-Orcs, except:
• There is no “Mark of Gruumsh” (Jenghen worship Ellosh and some other deities).
• Any PHB class allowed except Wizards, Barbarians, Monks, or Eldritch Knights.

 Half-Elves, Tieflings, Dragonborn, and non-PHB races do not exist in this world.

Yay! You finally got a campaign ready... This will be exciting! I will think up a character and send a PM once I am done.

Sounds interesting.  I remember seeing you post your homebrew earlier this week.  Glad it's coming together so well.  Its so much fun to create your own world and tweak it.

I was all interested until I got the race/class restrictions. I'm still digging through to see if there is a combination that I want to play. Was going to make a chimpmonk.

How would you feel about a chimp college of lore Bard?

 Thanks so much! At this point, I’m just looking for character concepts that work according to the homebrew limits of the linked document.

 I envision them being a bit of a progressive thinker trying to to change their community and when they were stumped trying to argue with their elders they moved on to learn of other rich communities/cultures to get a feel for what their homeland does well and what it is lacking from a political and cultural standpoint. With the ultimate goal of improving Chimp standing in the world and finding an in into the more powerful diplomatic arenas.
