So... I had a slightly out of the ordinary character concept as a second character for when my original character died, and that ended up being the consequence of a trap and bad dice rolls.
I started out with a protector aasimar, rolled 12,16,16, 17,14, 14 (it was really 16,16,16,16,17,14 but my dm had me nerf some stats for balancing sake.) With the 17 going to Dex, 14 for Wis and Cha, +2 to charisma and +1 to Wis from racial bonus, Con and Int 16, and Str 12.
I started at level 5, getting the boots of elven kind as an uncommon item, and taking eldrich adept as a feat, I took mask of many faces for the utility, also i would rather not be hunted down and sacrificed by demons. Taking arcane trickster gave me a little more spellcasting ability too.
Now heres the kicker. The party gave me a sun blade because the person using it got a new weapon, i have booming blade and a daily use of radient soul. That allows me to essentially play babe of undead against a necromancer BBEG.
Going forward i plan to take two levels in fighter and one in paladin. The rest in rogue.
As for feats, I already have Eldrich adept, planning to take sentinel, healer and mobile.
I would love some opinions on this because the journey here was purely coincidental
I am interested in the reason for taking a level in paladin and 2 in fighter. I assume the fighter levels are for action surge and the paladin level is flavor reasons. I would skip the paladin levels and take a 3rd level in fighter to get champion fighter subclass which lets you crit on a 19 or a 20. which you can claim is divine intervention, for RP reasons.
If you are taking paladin for divine sense and lay on hands, I would go 2-3 levels into paladin so you have access to the paladin's spells and smite. Oath of glory gives you guiding bolt which you can use to set up sneak attack next turn. Smite would give you better uses for your spell slots as well, as your INT bonus is a little low to make your arcane trickster spell's saving throws a little lack luster.
I might also consider trading the paladin level for a divine sorcerer or divine soul warlock, they give better spell slots similar healing benefits and cantrips with CHA. they also have the benefit of matching your race or are better than taking up paladin tenets.
I personally prefer not going 3 classes as you don't gain huge benefits for doing so. Less so if the class don't get you much at 1st level, and it's for RP reasons.

Remember you need 13 strength to multiclass into Paladin.
