So if I start a second class on top of my base class...
-Do they get both of the saving throw proficiencies that the new class has, giving them up to four? -Same question but with class learned skills
-Do they get the starting equipment and items that the class would get? or no since they're not starting the game with that class?
-Since it's their first level in that class, do they get the max number of hit points for that class's hit die, or does it use the "pick mid number or roll dice and add con modifier" rule for any collective level after the first?
Thanks. It's amazing the little details that get missed even after so many reads. I never noticed that the multiclass proficiency list had things like "choose one skill from x" included in there. I thought it was just weapon and armor proficiency.
I never saw it mention saving throws either from taking another class, so I had to make sure by asking here.
I had the multiclass spellcasting chart ready, and how the proficiency bonus works for multiclass characters, and it took me a couple of rechecks before realizing why ability score increases were per class and not per few levels. My friends and I use Roll20, so I'll have to find a way to keep track of the multiple hit dice, or find an option to allow two.
Thanks a bunch for the answers, I'll be making another topic soon to ask about ideas to modernize a 3.5e race, and ideas for background crossovers.

Hi Pirostyle, welcome to the D&D Beyond Forums.
Simply put, the answer is no to all of your questions.
It's worth reading through the multiclassing rules which answer everything you've asked here.
