I'm trying to figure out the scaling logic of the Healing Touch ability found on Unicorns, Deva, Planetars, and Solars (Maybe Others?). For Reference:
Unicorn CR 5: Healing touch is 2D8+2 Deva CR 10: Healing touch is 4D8 +2 Planetar CR 16: Healing touch is 6D8 +3 Solar CR 21: Healing touch is 8D8 +4
At first I figured its 2D8 per five levels and then add Charisma Modifier, but that charisma modifier doesn't match for any of these. Can anyone help explain this to me? I want to know so I can scale this ability appropriately to other creatures with differing CR.
So if the unicorn was 2d8+1 it would fall in line? That's the best explanation I've gotten so far. I was really hoping there was a pattern for this because I'd love to believe that monster creation can be formulaic to some extent but I suspect they mostly just wing it and tweak until it works.

With the exception of the Unicorn, it seems that the angels get a bonus equal to half the number of dice.
You could do: + 2d8 of healing per 5 increments of CR + a bonus equal to half the number of dice (minimum of 2).
So if the unicorn was 2d8+1 it would fall in line?
