Tavern Brawler would give you proficiency with improved weapons (like a shield). If the weapon would be an identified improvised weapon, it would probably be a great club.

I am creating a character based on Mash Kyrielight of Fate/Grand Order (Human Variant, Fighter, Shield Master Feat)
Now, I wonder, if I want to stay in character, I should attack using a Shield. Shield Master Feat adds some variety, but no actual attacks.
Now, since Mash holds a shield that's bigger than she is, I had the idea of using the shield as an improvised weapon to smash against monsters.
How would the damage be considered?
1. Unarmed: 1 + STR mod
2. Unidentified Improvised Weapon: 1d4 + STR mod
3. Identified Improvised Weapon: What weapon would that huge shield be?
4. Simply not allowed...
I think I'd work with you to create a homebrew feat, fighting style, or subclass that gets you abilities you need for this basis.
From those options, probably 2, may vary by DM though.
Well, If someone would go with the unarmed damage, I just need to pick the Tavern Brawler feat for one of the later Feats:
