When you get reincarnate cast on you, what condition are you in after the spell goes through? Full HP and conscious or at 1 hp or something?
There was an ability I saw that said something to the effect of "When you die, you instantly reincarnate as per the Reincarnate spell." But what does that mean in combat?
Any official rulings on this would be appreciated.
There is no restrictions listed in the spell, so it would be full HP of the new body.
P.S. There's nobody on these forums to give an "official" answer, we can only point to the rules (or absence thereof) which might indicate the correct answer.
Curious on what ability you are referencing, that may have some indicators.
With a natural casting time of 1 hour, I'm sure Reincarnate was never intended to be used in combat. Big contrast of course would be the 1 action Revivify which does specify the 1 HP upon return.
Again, without the text of Reincarnate saying it, I'd assume it was a full restoration with the new body. Sometimes spells/abilities say things simply by not saying things that other spells/abilities specifically say.

It's one of the possible effects of a Wild Magic Sorcerer's Wild Magic Surge:
91–92
If you die within the next minute, you immediately come back to life as if by the reincarnate spell.

Feels appropriate for Wild Magic. Certainly not official, but I'd try keep it in the same realm of chaos, maybe the HP restored should be just as random: a roll of the total hit dice, instead of 1 HP vs Max HP... and that's only because we're talking about Wild Magic, which is among the most random and chaotic features in the game.
The body is litterally formed from scratch. You're full HP, no disease, no conditions, no exhaustion. Its in all respects superior to basic ressurection. Basic resurrection specificly states it comes back weakened but you are who you were before. The downside of this spell is the listed one. DM picks your race. You have zero say in what race the body is. This is the balancing factor for its level. Try being a great weapon master and coming back as a small race? A sneaky ambushing wood elf archer, and coming back as a goliath without Mask of the Wild. Or more horrifying a Halfling battlesmith artificer/cavaleer and coming back medium, too big to fit on your robo-mount. And these are just the mechanical downsides, there's also the RP ones. A Paladin of Watchers, foe to all extra planar entities ends up a tiefling? I'm thinking your order won't be too happy.
Revivify is L3, and you come back 1HP and have to cast it VERY fast after death. Within a minute.
Reincarnate is L5 and you come back perfect, but DM picks your race. You have no say at all. You have 10 days.
Raise dead is L5 and you come back 1HP and weakened. All mundane diseases and all poisons are fixed, but you remain cursed, or magicly afflicted (for example you'd still have lycanthropy). It cannot restore body parts, so fails if you're missing vital organs. You have 10 days
Resurrection is L7 and you come back fully repaired with all body parts and HP, but both the target and caster get fatigued. It removes mundane afflictions but not magical ones same as Raise Dead. You have 100 years.
True Resurrection is L9 and you come back flawless, as who you were. It even creates a new body like reincarnate from scratch if needed, but you come back as who you were. There are no downsides, and it cures all mundane and magical afflictions.

Spell seems to just make a healthy alive body. Full HP would be the assumed default. DM can change it for balance if needed.
