Forgive the scattershot on this post, it's my first one here. I have looked over a few other spots concerning the Eldritch cannon and an idea popped up that made me wanna ask a few questions. The Eldritch cannon can be small or tiny (hand held size) as well as being stationary or have the ability to move via legs or other locomotion, which can be done if you are within 60 feet of it. If I read this right the bonus action can move and /or fire the cannon. I was wondering if anyone has tried pairing or attaching this to a flying Homunculus, which may increase its movement, allows you to use Channel magic at range through the Homunculus to cast mending on the cannon if its damaged, plus since the cannon is attached to the Homunculus it would effectively be in Dodge mode, so if something were to target them the Homunculus could dodge attacks. This would also make moving a healing station with more range as well. The only draw back is using the Bonus Action as the activation means only one of the units could fire off. I was just wondering if anyone had played through with this idea and run into any issues or ideas.
Both the cannon and the homunculus are in the same size category, so at the very least the homunculus's speed would be halved even if the DM lets it fly.
Also, remember mending has a casting time of 1 minute, not exactly something you can do mid combat.
