Am I allowed to set up a trigger for the glyph that states "any non ally that becomes aware of the glyphs existence like using detect magic or some form of trap detector, magical sight, perception check, ECT, will trigger the glyph, or walking within X amount of feet of the glyph will trigger the glyph) I've never seen anyone say anything about that theoretical trigger condition but it seems like quite a clever if not a touch mean spirited way to set up a trap for players or a dm. I'd love opinions!
It does seem you can make the trigger as vague or as specific as you like. I don't know about using multiple triggers at the same time by OR'ing them though.
Reading the spell again - one of offered possible triggers is specifically "seeing or reading the glyph". I imagine someone who casts Detect Magic who pings it will see it. So yea - you could totally make it a trap like that.
Then again " becoming aware of the glyphs existence" has more far reaching implications than just "seeing or reading the glyph" I could simply tell you about the glyph on the wall behind you and you get hit with a fireball or an explosion or whatever you want to stuff in there

ps. Irrelevant but: it's "etc" not "ect". ; )

I was more meaning the former anyway, the intention would be a trap especially designed for observant players and npc's

Oh so it's mentioned straight in the mechanics 😂😂😂 I'm kind of disappointed, I thought I thought of that first lol
