I am in the process of creating a Scourge Aasimar GOOlock and had an idea for how to utilize the Radiant Consumption ability, especially in light of being a GOOlock. My PC is in service to Polaris (the North Star, the never moving, the always watching), and I am looking for feedback on whether or not changing up how Radiant Consumption works makes sense and doesn't break anything major. I have no idea if I will ever get a chance to use this PC, but if I did, I would obviously clear this change with the DM. Realistically this character will probably show up as an NPC in my current campaign.
My proposal for Radiant Consumption as a GOOlock: Each time that the PC casts a spell (using the imparted arcane ability from their patron) they would need to make a straight D20 roll similar to the Wild Magic Surge for sorcerers; however, I would want the DC on the roll to increase, so the longer they are in a situation the greater the chance that the energy within you could no longer be contained. DC would start at 1, and then increase by 2 each round (1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10...). I would also drop the long rest requirement, and drop the choice on the part of the PC to activate the ability.
Any critiques, questions, suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
