I am curious what your response to this is. Would you allow me to play her? Is she to powerful for a level 1 starting character? What do you think of the back story? If you have any questions about any of this, please feel free to ask. I have worked very hard on this back story, and I know I have everything in place.
The Draconic plane: The Draconic plane is a plane of existence that was created by someone or something as an experiment. This plane of existence has lasted now for over 1000 years; thus, it is unknown if the experiment was a success, failure, or even if the original creator of this realm is still alive. Very few from this plane know that other planes of existences even exist.
This plane has layers of small continents and islands floating in the sky. There are essentially two species that live here: Humans and Dragons. When a dragon lays its eggs, what hatches is a human draconic. They appear to be between 18 to 20. They are born with the knowledge they need to survive in this "world". For the most part, draconic humans are solitary creatures but in times of need will band together to survive. Draconic humans are hatched to be extremely pleasing to the eyes. They naturally have wings that come out of their back. They can retrack or spread their wings as they wish. Draconic humans are also naturally telepathic, though their telepathy is rather limited. They cannot read minds, nor can they send messages. The only thing that they can do is manipulate certain natural human desires.
Draconic humans are "manavores", for lack of a better term. They eat any living creature that has a high enough mana. In their plane this means they feed mostly on humans. When they find a lone human to feed on, they will often land close by as to not be seen. They will sheath their wings and approach the human, using telepathy to push that human into arousal. They will then attempt to romance their pray. When they spread their wings, this releases a natural pheromone that increases the desire within the pray human. Once the Draconic is certain that they have their pray under control they will attack and eat their pray raw. While rare, draconic humans have been known to feed on each other. This is why draconic humans do not often band together. A draconic human can live on non-mana food sources for a time. If they go long enough without feeding on something that has mana, they will wither and eventually die.
The Ixian Caverns: The Ixian caverns are a labyrinth within a dead planet. While the surface of the planet does have a thin oxygen atmosphere, it is extremely cold and snowy. In the labyrinth itself you will find a multitude of creatures, both intelligent and beasts. Throughout the labyrinth, there are portals to many different planes and dimensions. If one were to find the portal to the Ixian Caverns from the Forgotten Realms, you might find another portal that will take you to the Warhammer 40k universe. (as an example) The caverns are very treacherous and can shift from time to time, making it all but impossible to map it out.
Karangar: Karangar was a male draconic human that stumbled into the Ixian portal by mistake. After traversing the labyrinth for a time, he finally found a working portal and went through it. He found himself in the Forgotten Realms. Karangar, being a fierce warrior and mage, was able to hook up with a group. Out of a party of 12, Karangar and two others saved Waterdeep from a terrible fate. Thus, Karangar and his friends became known as the heroes of Waterdeep. His two friends eventually moved on to more adventure and intrigue, but Karangar stayed in Waterdeep. He found a way to eat mana without the need to eat a living being. He used his wealth, fame, and influence to help the poor of Waterdeep.
One misty night guards found Karangar dead. There was no apparent cause of death. There was no sign of struggle. The guards did find that his house had been ransacked but nothing of note seemed to be missing. Gold coins were left untouched as were powerful magical artifacts and weapons. Foul play was suspected but could not be proven.
Azrealla: Shortly after hatching and finding her first meal, Azrealla had a strange and very strong urge to go to a certain point on the Draconic plane. She went and found herself in the Ixian caverns. Keeping low and silent as she could, she traveled through the labyrinth, following an instinct she did not understand. After what seemed like two days, she found three portals and stepped through one of them. In nothing but rags and a single silver piece, she finds herself in the Forgotten Realms. The name "Karangar" comes to her mind, but she has no idea who or what a "Karangar" is.
So, what is your opinion of the worlds I have created?
Azrealla is definitely not too powerful for a 1st level character - she's just about right for Level 1. Everything else seems interesting. Good luck!

Thank you for your kind words. The history of the Ixian Caverns and the history of the Draconic Planes were really hard for me to simplify down. All of this history was created over the course of 15+ years. While I do know who created the Draconic Plane and if his experiment was a success or failure, I decided to leave that open for the DM to play with. My original idea was Karangar was going to be the soul possessing Azrealla. I ended up giving up on this idea as I had a couple of people tell me that it is really good if you can create a backstory that allows a DM to play with, if they want. So, Azrealla is no longer possessed and the history of Ix has been REALLY shortened.
Some times I imagine the islands of Io's blood from "Council of Wyrms" as a group of demiplanes within the elemental chaos/limbo, ruled by the overlord dragons.
If you like Dragon Lore, then The Dragon Eyrie is a good Google Search.
Giving characters the power to influence the emotions of others can be a game breaker depending on the imagination of your table. You have to set limits to how much you can influence someone, including what events or situations could likely break the bond, and whether or not the prey understands what happened. Sometimes characters who know they were charmed will be aggressive to the charmer. You left their feeding open to require the trap of seduction or other trickery so that already tells me the race isn't going to just walk up and overpower any random humanoid which helps the balancing of the race. But your description left a lot to assume including their success rate.
All in all, it is all a clever concept and should lead to a good story. You are just going to really, really want to develop more specific details so you don't get bogged down with table arguments. Set limits, set pros and cons, personally I would flesh out the land just a little more with lore and wildlife. Not sure if your land has any deity mythos, but tying at least some god or higher power would create a great plot point or possibly a great character arc. Good luck my friend, your game sounds like fun.
PS. Another link you could include would be how the Spellplague affected The Draconic Plane. Maybe the experiment was started or theorized prior to the Spellplague.

I am not sure what my Spirit Animal is. But whatever that thing is, I am pretty sure it has rabies!
In my attempts to condense the mythos of the Draconic Plane I seemed to have condensed it to much. Most all of the points that you bring up are good points and have actually been addressed. I just did not want to make a "War & Peace" version of a post. The Spellplague was never integrated into our game. I honestly have little knowledge on that.
As far as Draconics being able to influence emotions, I really was attempting to be as discreet as possible. I am new here and I do not wish to have any points against my account. So maybe I was not specific enough. The Draconic Human needs to get their prey into a state of total vulnerability. For a humanoid to fly they would need to have avian type bones. So, they really are super squishy on their plane. The way that this forced evolution has happened is by allowing the Draconic to increase the lust in their prey. Someone who is consumed with lust is less likely to be able to effectively fight back. This becomes more true if the prey is allowed to act on that lust with the Draconic. Some Draconic's have a slightly better ability in their telepathy, allowing them to know what emotions are being felt by those around them. But these Draconics don't typically last long as they don't have the ability to turn that off.
As for success rate, my opinion is that if the Draconic's were very successful, that plane of existence would be empty after 1000+ years from lack of humans leading to the destruction of the Draconic race. The Dragon's need humanity to survive in order for their race to continue. Oh, and if a Draconic Human lives long enough, they will turn into a Dragon.
The land does have a deity figure, but in reality, he is not a deity. He is a man who lives in the Ixian caverns who, through research of many different planes, have developed technologies that have allowed him to live basically forever. He has a family that he cares for and loves. Some Draconic's will attempt to seek out this human in order to stop the change into Dragon. None realize that he does not live on their plane of existence. Some humans will also seek him out to leave the Draconic plane or to be free of Dragons. Again, they do not know that he does not live on this plane. There is a backstory on how he became so widely known and almost worshiped. If this person knew that this was happening, he would honestly be horrified.
So, this is a small example of the back story this plane has. It was developed by me and another person over the course of 15+ years. The Azrealla I played does not come from this plane, she is the result of an intermixing of a human and an altered Draconic Human. (Altered by the man who is almost worshipped) As time went on, there was some retconning of the Draconic Plane, but that was very rare and pretty minor.
I've been thinking a lot about how I can bring this race into the Forgotten Realms. It occurred to me that I did say that this race needs to eat a creature that has mana or it will eventually die. What if I made that an actual in-game consequence? So for every two days they go without eating a creature with mana, they lose one permanent HP. When they have a full meal, their HP goes back up to their max again.
Does that help balance this race?
