So i have started to create my own homebrew campaign. i have the premise and a sort of small starting map and locations, looking for anyone who would be interesting in working with me to help create a huge world with new god, goddesses and if anyone has the knowledge maybe new races.. im not the most creative in the detailed sense so thought id see if anyone would be up for it....
Sorry, I don't have the time for collaboration at this point.
But I strongly recommend, well, reading. :-) Read other game settings. Read various fantasy novels. Read history. Use that to inspire or even just borrow events/peoples and change the name.
I personally almost always start by drawing a local map. Then create the larger world map around it. Then ask who lives there? Who are their enemies? Allies? Trading partners, which may be from either of the preceding groups/lists. Also, I don't create my own pantheons and just choose an existing one. (It's just not something I want to create.)
Nothing wrong with starting small. In fact that's the best way IMO. The biggest mistake, IMO, many people make is thinking that their home-brew campaign setting has to be a 346 page book like a published setting before they ever begin play. :-D You absolutely do not need to do that!
Just make some notes here and there. Even if they don't 'fit' yet. Then see as you continue world building and playing how, and IF, they fit in anywhere.
