So... I am putting together an adventure for my players in the Feywild, where the BBEG is a Hag on steroids (I still have to decide which kind of hag, but the Night Hag entices me).
The plot is simple, and I took the basics from Dungeon Magazine, issue 211: the players are going to save the King of Pixies from her hut while she's not there (she's somewhere else doing hag stuff, but the players do not know... I want to make them nice and jumpy, thinking that the hag can get back at any moment!). Of course the hag's hut is going to be tanked up to keep intruders out, and this leads me to my first question: apart from magical traps, which monsters and minions would a hag use to guard her lair? Would a hag rather capture intruders to study/use/torture them later at her convenience, or kill them outright?
Of course, the hag is not going to be happy that some valiant noble busybodies nosed in her hut and rescued the Pixie King (and very much likely stole everything that wasn't nailed down, we have a light fingered pixie in the party...): is it more likely that she will try to harm the pcs (via minions, curses or whatever mean at her disposal), or will she try to hoodwink them and make them be the agents of their own misery? I think that a hag with a vendetta would want her enemies to know that it was her, but what do you think?
I LOVE the idea of the hag selling bagged souls in exchange for servants!! a Lich could give her the knowledge on how to create various types of undead, while a fiend would give her the rituals necessary to bind fiends to her service... a night hag doing a brisk trade of souls is nightmarish enough, add in it that the Pixie King is a particularly juicy morsel (after all he's a lesser archfey) that she was going to auction between a fiend and a litch... ooohhho this tickles the evil DM in me so much!
and after my favourite do-gooders have rescued the Pixie King, they will have a very angry night hag who wants now to sell their souls to said archfey and lich... *gleefully rubs hands* this also means that the hag needs minions intelligent enough that they understand the concept of "capturing" rather than "killing outright", and an intelligent villain with intelligent lovacs is even scarier...
personally, I have a player who rolled up an interesting backstory that we twined into the campaign when he joined. Basically he was kidnapped by a night hag but made a deal with Titania to get enough power to break free of her, but when he 'killed' the Hag with his Warlock powers it served to help her ascend to become a Haglich- something i'm not done designing yet. since she survived, and gained more power, she maintains her link to the player and is working towards driving him insane while she grows her own power in order to gather enough souls to entice Orcus into a trap, only to use the souls to bind him to her Heartstone in a bid to become the master of Undeath. So far the players have encountered the crime organization she's taken over, but only the Warlock and my druid NPC i added to give the party a healer know about the hag at all.

Imps could make great mooks?
P’raos a summoned shadow demon could be a bit scarier?
