Also, what is the coolest character you’ve ever built?
Mine was a gnomish draconic bloodline sorcerer named Agnomally. (You think me small, foul creature? The blood of the mightiest of all beasts flows in my veins! I AM AGNOMALLY!!!!)
It's between two of them. Thoruk the half-orc Barbarian, namesake of my account, is convinced that his parents were killed by a Duck (because someone shouted "Duck!" just before they were carried off) and has sworn vengeance on their kind ever since. Alas, he doesn't really understand what a Duck is, and is very easily confused.
His in-game exploits include:
tempting a water elemental to hit his boat, catapulting him through the air so he could hit the water elemental with his sword
demolishing the alter to the dwarven goddess of homely protection in a dwarfs home, after being sent in to kill kobolds, causing her to manifest (and most of the party to flee), seeing her beard and saying "Stay back sir, there could be more" before rushing back after the (now fleeing) Kobolds, and then rolling a natural 20 to persuade her that the Dwarves had told him to destroy her alter.
Sneaking up on the BBEG ( a giant Gnoll) and slamming a cooking pot over his head, blinding him.
wasting a rage immediately after a long rest because the Wizard had cast minor illusion to put a Duck next to his head when he woke up, and demolishing most of the camp in the ensuing battle with a stationary illusion of a duck.
Playing a game of Pooh Sticks with 2 gnolls, where Thoruk was the player and the Gnolls were the sticks.
Surprised the evil necromancer in his first game by sneaking up on him whilst wearing a dress he had found in a cupboard
His out-of-game exploits include:
Hearing a girl ask if she could "take grandma to feed the ducks", and concluding that the village was a duck-worshiping cult who sacrifice their elders to these foul beasts. He then staged a daring rescue mission, overpowered the girl and put her grandma safely on a wagon the next town.
being born under a lucky star, and a somewhat brighter stupid star
Building a duck-detector out of a duck whistle and a bag of holding, encased in a cardboard box decorated with macaroni and gold paint. If you blow into the duck whistle and it echoes in the bag of holding, you're not a duck, because a ducks quack doesn't echo.
accidentally dimension-hopping whilst distracted. He'll be walking through a meadow, stop to admire an unusual rock formation, then continue walking through the desert. He doesn't even notice it's happening!
The other character is Griswold "Gizmo" Grayling, Gnome Artificer. I played him as a character for one session, where we were eaten by a house mimic, and from there he developed into an NPC in my own world. Now he runs "Gizmo's Glorious Gadgets", a magic item shop where Gizmo invents and tinkers with various things. He also enjoys removing curses from things and storing them in Gems, until such a time as he works out how to destroy them. At one point in time he was employed by a militarized organization that did dark experiments on monsters to turn them into weapons of war, which he left/escaped/destroyed the whole place after finding that it wasn't just constructs they were working on but living things. He created the nigh-unstoppable Furnace Golem, which is still running rampant in the world, and has also found uses for a red salt crystal which can contain magical energies. He is also the creator of the Chalk of Labeling, which he uses to cheat at inventing as it makes any words it writes true - write "shortcut to the moon" on a door, and when you open the door, it leads to the moon. Probably not a wise thing to do.
my coolest character would have to be either my op 20th level character that is now a god or my curresnt lvl2 character (wyvverns shriek) a kenku artificer.
so my 20th lvl character was rpd as a pit fiend who was summoned by a gnomish wizard who made some mistakes in the summoning. the pit fiend tried to escape the summoning and they switched bodies. the pit fiend (now a wizard gnome) studied for years trying to find the secrets of true polymorph to regain his former glory. in the process he found something even better. a way to regain his glory while retaining his new magical power. however he had made friends in his time as a mortal and was no longer evil. he set out with his friends after casting the spells neccisary and began using true polymorph to create an army of good aligned fiends to fight in the blood war against the devils and demons.
my current character is a kenku artificer obsessed with curses and magic. you know ¨ooh probably cursed¨ pcks it up. i use a bag of holding to contain the items i collect. its fun.

This Mug immediately shared with me a transcendental tale of an Infinite Mug that anchors the Universe and keeps it from folding in on itself. I filed this report under "illogical nonsense" and asked why its sign is in Times New Roman font, when it is basic knowledge that Arial Black is a far superior font. I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?

I don't think my 'go to ' class and race for builds is the same as my 'favorite'. If my favs did what I needed them to do they would be the same. *shrug*
Warlock is my favorite class, but mostly just for how customizable they are. They're my favorite class to theory craft with but I've never actually played one.
I chose Half-elf for favorite race, but I've never really played a conventional half-elf. I've played a nature cleric who was the son of my retired human paladin and a dryad from the glade he retired to; Half-elf seemed the closest fit. I played a fighter who was half-drow, half-minotaur pirate. And the character I'm getting ready to play with under some Ravenloft rules is a Returned who was a Human but is now being cohabitated by the ghost of a long-dead elf to the point of missing limbs being replaced by ectoplasmic projections. So literally half elf.
Intelligence because I've been playing this game for too long and I like to make sure I'm not metagaming by playing characters who really would know about the monsters we're facing.
