I'm planning on making a echo knight fighter/wildfire druid character, and I'm thinking of making him a high dexterity range build. My idea of how combat would go is:
T1: Bonus action echo, main action wildfire spirit. Move into position. Have the spirit move into position, then make an attack at an enemy or teleport to move closer to position.
T2+: Begin barrage of arrows/flame seeds and pelt the enemies from multiple directions.
Is this viable in group combat? Does it work when talking about different types of terrain/arenas?
A good idea is to have a ranged weapon and have the echo fight one on one with the enemy, keeping at range whilst firing arrows spells or whatever you feel like

"Anyone can smith at the cosmic anvil, yet only I can forge a weapon as good as thee."
Commanding the Wildfire Spirit requires your bonus action, so you can not have it attack or teleport on the same turn that you summoned the Echo.
Yeah I always thought that was weird how you can't use an action to do a bonus action, but the rules and sage advice is clear that you can't.
It’s because bonus action was poorly named. It does give that impression. Like it’s a smaller thing than an ”action” and you should be able to downgrade an action to use it. Especially if you played 4e where the action types did kind of work like that.
I just try to think of it like a second action, though that term is clunky, too. Just my head canon that helps me keep things straight.
