In my previous D&D session, I used small and tiny sized creatures. Something which became a problem because, from what I know, 2 small creatures or 4 tiny sized creatures can occupy the same 5ft square. This meant I had trouble how I could move 1/4 or 1/2 of an inch minis and tokens, and (in a future game) I had trouble deciding if 2 small creatures could occupy the same 5ft square space despite the physical mini that had a 1 inch base (the equivalent to a 5ft square space).
So I am not so sure how I should feasibly and viably move small and tiny creatures. What are your opinions? Should I treat small creatures as medium sized creatures, or should I modify future stat blocks of small and tiny creatures so there are enough creatures to fill a 5ft square space?
According to the official rules, a Small creature actually takes up one entire square. They don't move any different than Medium creatures. See here for the details.
Just because the tiny creatures can occupy the same square doesn’t mean they need to. Just spread them out. Besides, packing them in so tightly makes them an easier target for an AoE.
I agree with Xalthu. Spreading them out and making them swarm the party gives a good feel of tension. If it could happen in a room, that too with multiple obstacles, that would make for a really good encounter. Another good things for tiny creatures is making them appear in the dark. I like using them as tool to make my table tense

Every act of creation is first an act of destruction. Virva of Neverwinter sat on his throne, pondering if simply coming into this world meant taking someone else out of it. He then took out multiple, and then himself.
I run Small and Tiny creature pretty much RAW, Small occupy the same space so it only change things regarding, Carrying Capacity, Grappling Shove etc...

Tiny creatures are indeed four to a square.

@VirvaOfNeverwinter
If using a physical map, you can replace minis with smaller tokens (I like to use coins, or candies) if the minis are too big.
