Is it just me or does it seem like the amount of times we can use the new UA feats needs adjusted?
For example, I love the metallic dragon feat (I'm a support main, especially frontline support) but I feel like limiting it's protection ability to a number of times equal to prof. bonus is... Strange. Mostly because we have a feat that could give our characters the option of imposing disadvantage on an attack or reducing damage dealt to someone within 5ft of us... With an unlimited amount of uses per day. Is this feat not comparable?
I am curious what everyone thinks of the number of uses for the feat abilities in general are!
All of the draconic feats are a bit odd. chromatic has more utility for melee, but the 2nd half is useful for anyone that gets hit by spells
metallic agree that the defensive ability seems odd being limited, but if it was all the time almost all characters would want it for emergency heal plus defense
gem is very interesting for any caster, my paladin would consider for a big charge and bam! When they attack back
I agree with the chromatic, though I would want to point out it says that any simple or martial weapon works with it, so it would seem that bows and thrown weapons apply as well.
And I suppose I could see that, but a level 1 cure wounds seems pretty inconsequential at mid-high tier play...and like I said before, we could just pick up the interception or protection fighting style and never have to worry about running out. Maybe I am missing something since I am no mathematician but +1-4 to AC is nice...but disadvantage on an attack seems way more beneficial and yet we want to limit the additional AC one...just odd.
And yes! I have also looked at the fun of running a moon druid with the gift of the gem dragon feat!

I looked at it more as a get the healer up in a pinch heal

Here's a major difference between -d4 and disadvantage: Disadvantage doesn't stack with other sources of disadvantage.
There are lots of way to impose advantage/disadvantage, and while they are potent, they all overlap with one another. The Metallic Dragon's ability can not only stack with those, but will also stack with features similar to itself.
That is true I did not think about that, and as a support main I love that feat even more haha. But still...looking at the interception fighting style as an example, is it not possible to stack damage prevention with interception as well? And yet there is not a limit on that fighting style which can now be picked up as a feat. I know there are requirements for using the interception fighting style but still...I am fine with the AC boost being limited, but maybe let it come back on a short rest at the very least.

Hey everyone,

The Chromatic feat's elemental damage doesn't have to be put on your weapon. You can put it on another party member's weapon, instead.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

Oh you are correct, that is a fun idea as well...could even stack it with the elemental weapon spell for a fight.
