I’ve been thinking of doing a Tolkien-esk campaign. I don’t know if I should stick to classic fantasy, or spice it up a bit, like doing the LotR story line with modern 5e characters and Npcs. I was also wondering if I should make the normal enemies orcs, or make it hobgoblins, skeletons with a lich lord, or human invading armies. Not sure.

What part of LotR is the most exciting to you for a game? Do you like the epic scope? The low magic? The high stakes? The setting a lore? I think focusing on the thing that inspired you might be a good place to start filling in the rest.
Edit: wait, was this the forum section you meant this to be in?
