So I'm making a new character; a Warlock with an Archfey patron aka Titania Queen of the Fairies, and I wanted to make my character's arcane focus be a crystal that she received from Titania and wears around her neck. But because I love Shakespeare and feel like there should be connections to things when you write, I'm trying (and kinda failing) to think of a crystal that would represent Titania really well. Does anyone have any idea or suggestions to what kind of crystal might fit the Queen of the Fairies best?
If you go looking in the forest for crystals, Quartz is what you're most likely to find. So maybe one of the more exotic Quartz varieties like Amethyst or Rose Quartz? Another option could be Amber. Scientifically speaking it's not a crystal, but it's close enough unless your DM is a curmudgeon :) You could spice it up by having something interesting trapped in the Amber, too. Or possibly one of those Cat's-Eye Gems(a variety of chrysoberyl), and maybe have the eye "open" when casting a spell. In addition, I believe in D&D she has traditionally carried a diamond-tipped wand, so a diamond meant to resemble the one on her wand would be a viable option as well.
Whatever type of crystal you choose, I definitely think it'll be more interesting if you give it a little "extra" for flavor, like the cat's-eye opening that I mentioned before. Those little things always add to the fun for me.
Shakespeare's Titania is a very proud creature and as much of a force to contend with as her husband, Oberon. She and Oberon are engaged in a marital quarrel over which of them should have the keeping of an Indian changeling boy.
So, since you want to stick with Shakespeare's version of Titania , I suggest you choose a mineral that is commonly found in India such as stilbite or Apophyllite (which is often found with stilbite)
Whatever she personally handed you while you were in the Feywild having a visit. I would expect it would be a magical crystal that would randomly change shape and color depending on her moods.
I find myself curious. You said this was a new character. Visiting the Queen of the Feywild itself in person is a Tier 4 or better kind of thing. What level is this new character to be created at?
Read some Grimm's... children wander in an out of the Feywild all the time... Tiers of play have nothing to do with a story, and that's what we're discussing here - the character's back story...
As for the gem... perhaps an opal?
Although, I do like the idea of a tiger's eye (or any of the cat's eye gems) that opens and closes from time to time, as suggested above...

rn she's just level 1, I just came up with the idea of this warlock and I wanted to work on it before I lost the idea, I hope to one day play her in a game and am totally okay with the dm changing things, but I just thought it was such a cool idea and I came up with such a cool backstory that I wanted to work on it. i know that muddles up things but when you have writing inspiration you don't want to lose it to time and a bad memory lol
There is nothing really wrong with the idea in and of itself of having something that came from the Queen of the Feywild, but meeting her in person seems far fetched. Consider having the special gem be something your family has handed down, or maybe it just showed up out of thin air one day. Titania plays tricks on the mortals all the time, she's well meaning, and maybe she knows something you don't. I like the idea of an Opal, since those show a beautiful rainbow iridescence that suits her well.
It can be a sizable chunk that could look like a wand-ish thing. It could be a solid bracelet that you can never take off. It could be a stone embedded in your hand, arm, forehead, tongue or some other location. It could start out as a ring that grafts to your hand and the petrified wood color/texture moves up your arm the more power(levels) you gain. You and your DM can determine if it affects anything but the color/texture of your arm. Perhaps it is your eye. Tatiana plucked it out and replaced it with this hunk of stone, for all to see your tie to her.
While using it to cast, it could sprout greenery or flowers or thorns depending on the spell cast, the intent of the spell or the mood of the caster. The wood(stone) could change colors to indicate the desires of your patron, or change colors depending on whether you are speaking the truth.
There are any number of ways to spin this with your focus.

While there's nothing wrong with having met her so early, deciding you haven't can open up some interesting options. Perhaps Titania came to them in a vision/dream and gave them some instructions. When they woke up, there was a gem in their hand or on their table or pillow or something. Or perhaps their parents made some sort of deal, to save this character from an illness in exchange for their services when they're older.
It also opens up some more story beats that could happen later in a campaign. Perhaps there's an arc where your party journeys into the feywild to finally meet/confront Titania.
She is the Queen of the Summer Court in the Feywild. Make up your own crystal if you like. Its a fantasy setting and a different dimension. A shimmering crystal made of solidified rainbow or sunshine that glows as bright as a candle, a crystal made of unicorn tears, a golden crystal made from 8 strands of Titania's own hair, stuff like that, be creative.
If you want a real crystal, emerald because its green like the feywild, or a piece of amber with a small fairy encased inside it.

I created a warlock whose patron is Malar, the Beast Lord. His back story has him being out in the forest and being ambushed by a huge wolf and fighting back, even though was hopeless. As he was still trying to fight even though he was flat on his back the he heard a voice in his head, “You’ve got spirit. I like that. Will you serve me?” He said yes and the wolf dropped a brown crystal carved into the shape of a wolf’s head on a carved wooded chain on his chest and bounded off into the darkness of the forest.
For Titania I’d have her crystal be carved to look like her head. That would be her way of claiming ownership over her servant.
