For context running a hexblade warlock who gained firearms proficiency from their artificer party member through training with them, using a tiny bit of homebrewing and oking from the dm I'm able to use pact of the blade with the improved pact invocation to make my pact weapon the antimatter rifle (it has a range of 120 to 360 feet) however I run into the problem of i dont want to have to burn ravens queens blessing and move an additional 30 feet to get 120 feet from something. I looked into the usual of things like gunner sharpshooter and other such feats but they only mention if an enemy is in 5 ft not if your closer than your range parameters any advice?
Unless there is something specific about the antimatter rifle that I am unfamiliar with having never looked at the modern weapons in 5e, it appears you have misunderstood how range works. This is handy for you because a correct parsing of the rule completely solves your problem!
For ranged weapons, the first number indicates the optimal range for the weapon. Anything you shoot at up to that distance away is a regular shot, no disadvantage. The second number represents the maximum range of the weapon—you can never shoot farther than that. It is between the first and second numbers, your optimal range and your maximum range, that you incur disadvantage due to distance from your target. In this case, you shoot normally at a target up to 120’, with disadvantage at a target between 121’ and 360’ away, and you can never shoot a target farther than 360’ from you. Hope that helps.
Oh ok that helps a lotni don't usually do ranged weapons as I normally roll up a swing ten times melee build or a I'm going to turn eldritch blast into a glorified nuke build with some rp aspects since I normally don't heavily engage in the combat aspect but my dm told me that this campaign is gonna be more combat heavy so yeah.
Also note, that without the Gunner or Crossbow Expert feats, you have disadvantage on all ranged attack rolls if there is an enemy creature within 5 feet of you (even if you are shooting at an enemy that is farther away). This also applies to ranged spell attack rolls.
