For the build you are looking for then the Eldrictch Knight would probably be the best. Champion would give you more feats ASI though, so there is that to consider.
In 2014 rules I don't think EK can raise your spell slots beyond what you gain in wizard. Do you still want EK, or are you ok with thinking about Battle Master or Samurai or something else? Are you okay with being stuck at 2nd-level slots in wizard? Do you have any must-have feats in mind?
There are three options that come to mind. One is wizard 6/fighter 14. You get Bladesong at W-2 and Extra Attack at W-6, then 14 levels of Fighter for 5 ASIs, Action Surge, heavy armor prof, and Extra Attack
Second option is wizard 10 /fighter 10. You reach Song of Defense at W-10, then 10 levels of Fighter for all their best stuff. The most survivable build.
Third is wizard 5/fighter 15. You lock in 3rd-level spell slots at W-5, then max Fighter.
I'm enjoying a straight 2024 Blade Singer(using SCAG) standing toe to toe taking very few hits using spells like Disinigrate, Telekinisis Fireball in some rounds while using green flame blade and booming blade. Very Jedi feel as I use Telekinisis one round to lift an opponent 30 up, letting them fall the next round as I attack with my rapier. Lots of fun.

So the main idea starts with 3 levels in wizard to get bladesong and access to 2nd level spells. I then was thinking of going the rest into fighter.
Get more ASI's, second wind, action surge
I like EK to boost spell slots.
Level 2 spells because I want his main weapon to be shadow blade. I get i dont get the blade spell cantrips.
I do want fighter.
As for race: elf or human maybe. But looking for recommendations on the fighter side.
Edit: 2014 rules.

Champions don't get any more feats/ASIs than Eldritch Knights do. They do get an extra fighting style, but no additional general feats.
Fighters in general do get more feats than other classes, but that's regardless of which subclass they choose.

I was talking to someone on PM and found a unique way of doing it. 10/10 even split for 2014. 2024 should just go EK.
10 levels EK give the level 7 cornerstone and eldritch strike.
10 levels of BS level 6 extra attack can trigger 7 BA attack and song of defense.
High Elf F-EK 4 / W-BS 16 (assumes the 2025 Bladesinger will be close to the UA version earlier this year)
F1 / W1-14 / F2-3 / W15 / F4 / W16
OR
F1-3 / W1-15 / F4 / W16
Str 8, Dex 14, Con 15, Int 15, Wis 10, Cha 8
Weapon Mastery: Rapier (for Advantage), two others
Background: Sage (+1 Con, +2 Int, Mage Armor)
Feats: Elven Accuracy (Int) [extra Advantage], War Caster (Int), Resilient (Int), Epic Boon, Epic Boon.
Fighter Spells Absorb Elements, Longstrider, Shield, and one other (always prepared, saves Wizard slots for higher level spells)
Plenty of Cantrips. Run out of Bladesongs? Then put on the best armor you can get, mithral plate is ideal (assumes you have a bag of holding).
