Hello, I wanted to ask a question regarding how Arcane Ward interacts when the wizard it belongs to takes damage. "An Arcane Ward is not an extension of the wizard who creates it. It is a magical effect with its own hit points. Any temporary hit points, immunities, or resistances that the wizard has don’t apply to the ward" So according to sage advice, if you were to cast stoneskin on yourself and took 18 slashing damage, even if you are resistant to it and would normally take 9, the ward would still take 18 as far as i understand. What would happen if you casted invulnerability or you had an immunity to slashing damage and were still attacked for that same amount of damage? Would you be invulnerable but your ward'd still take the 18 damage, or since you just wouldn't be able to take damage the ward would also not take damage? "Whenever you take damage, the ward takes the damage instead." So i'm thinking that if you are immune to a type of damage or you are invulnerable to damage, the arcane ward would not be taking the damage, is this right?
Per that sage advice, if it's quoted correctly, the ward would still take damage even if you were immune to that type of damage. "Immunities" is in the list, so it would include damage immunities.
So, yes, per the reading of that sage advice, if you cast invulnerability on yourself and took damage, the ward would take the normal damage until the HP of the ward was depleted.
Of course, that leaves you open to using the projected ward feature with impunity, as you won't take any damage anyway.
Yep, went ahead and asked my DM what he thought of it. We both agreed that it should take the full damage, not only it seems to be how it was intended to work, but it's already pretty powerful of an ability to negate concentration saves. Thank you for your reply, i actually didn't think of using the projected ward, if you are immune to that kind of damage might as well deplete the ward to protect a teammate or negate a concentration save on friendly spellcasters.

I think it depends on your DM.
