Greetings Beyonders!
We've deployed some new filters on some pages that have needed it for a long time. I will say that, especially for the Characters page, this is not the end state but rather a small, incremental update to put some things in place for another feature that will be rolling out in the near-term.
For the Characters page:
We've added partial string match search boxes for the Character Name, Race / SubRace, and Class / SubClass. There is also an integer search field for class level. Our end vision for this page is to provide a much more complex UI with grouping / filtering / sorting, with those elements being more "live filters" and drag and drop capabilities. However, we needed the above filters in place now for another upcoming feature, and will tackle the more responsive UI update as its own project soon.
For the Official Backgrounds page:
We've added filters for Name, Source, Skills (Proficiency), and Tags. We may expand on these in the future, but these should help in navigating this ever growing official list.
For the Official Feats page:
We've added filters for Name, Source, Prerequisites, and Tags. As with Backgrounds, we may expanded the filters over time, but hopefully, these will provide a lot of use, out of the gate.
There's a lot of other projects and features in process that we're super excited to see get launched in the near future!
Happy Dragon Slaying!
I love you, Hartless. Just sayin'.
TELL ME!?!?!?!?
This is absolutely fabulous! Thank you Hartless & team! <3
OK, so, this has been a long-time annoyance for me. I've tried to find extensions or settings or some way to work around it, even to the extent of examining the code on the pages, but I can't figure out why this happens or how to stop it.
It doesn't happen on all drop-down menus, only on certain ones. Like with the filters on Feats and Backgrounds, it only happens on the Sources field, and on the Spells filters, it only happens on the Damage Type and Conditions fields, on the Magic Items sort page, it's only Rarity that does it while the Monsters page is the worst with Environment, Alignment, Skill Proficiency, Languages and Movement Type popping up the auto-fill selector.
Also, can we please have the same logic used on all the filter pages for the placement of each of the form fields? Having Name be the first on one page only to have it be the third on another page, for instance, is super annoying. Same with swapping where the Author field is all the darn time. Some consistency in the logic of placement and order would be very much appreciated.
Where is "Name" not the first field on a form page? Because we do want things to be placed consistently and if it's not somewhere, then it slipped in without my knowledge...
Can we comment on the fact that he has a character named Rando Callrisian? Because that's amazing.
The Homebrew Collection (not creations) page is one I always get messed up on. It's Author/Type/Name on that page.
I also face the same auto-fill issue as Dropbear. :(
I see. Yes, the Homebrew Collection pages having a different layout makes sense (to me I mean) since there could be a different search priority. We'll check into that though with some of our clicking/ heat map analytics to confirm it's working as it should and make adjustments if needed.
Not sure on the autofill thing...fairly certain (in my not-so-technical expertise) that's browser related. I'll see if we have any advice on that.
Thanks!
I can say from my experience on the Collections page I have been frustratingly fooled many times trying to put an item name in the first box. :( I usually look things up in there because something isn't working as intended, so I look up a specific homebrew item in order to find the page, and see if the author has a new version that may work better.
Doesn't happen in Safari but I use Chrome mostly. Just updated Chrome and discovered it still happens with an added oddity:
It seems some of the fields are linked. When I hover the mouse over the Country input, it sometimes highlights more than one field.
First and foremost hurray for character filters.
On the other hand, the character slots now became misleading, instead if showing how many character slots I use, it only shows how many characters show up in the filter. This should be separated, in the format of "Character slots: used / max; showing N results" or similar, otherwise people will constantly create threads about ''hey why did my characters disappear".
Also earlier a lot of races and classes were missing for me from the dropdowns, I will check soon if it's still the issue.
There's already a fix for that issue being queued up for a deploy.
Awesome. (Also I just checked, there are no dropdowns anymore at all.)
When you filter by "Elf", Mordenkainen elf subraces do not show up.
Woot! Well done guys, it looks great! Can’t wait for that character page sorting (I think I have a problem cause I can’t stop inventing new characters)
Hey people for some reason after the update the character sheet tool is bugging on my smart phone. When I click on the spells/actions/equipment tabs in the character sheet view and then scroll down to view the info, it will immediately change back to the abilities and stat's tab after scrolling. It's happening on every tab. It sucks because it was working perfectly a few hours ago before the update and I just bought content and now it's bugged. Please fix!! Thanks alot
It's fixed :) thank you!
For those that use Beyond Help chrome extension it is removing the new filter on my characters page. I will try to send a new version today fixing it. Until them go to extension options (the wrench on the extension popup) and uncheck "Enable folders and sort on 'My Characters' page".
This is fixed now.
Nice additions. I would love a "Exclude my creations" checkbox option when browsing "My Homebrew Collection" (i.e. only see other people's homebrew creations added to my collection, not my homebrew as well).
Update for those that use Beyond Help chrome extension. A new version (v0.13.1) is out with fixes for character folders on my character page with filters.
