* (edit: meant it as in which brand of paint I should get)
I'd like recommendations for the next kind of miniature paint I should get when the stuff I have runs out.
I started with the huge Army Paints kit, which I like decently enough, but the shaking to mix the insides can be finicky from paint to paint and there's some paints I use way more than others.
Some notes about me:
I like high fantasy and weird fantasy. I love the fey and abberations part of d&d, so more striking pinks and oranges and magical-looking colors (if that makes sense) would be great. My figures tend to be colorful, and I rarely use any of the gritty greens and browns and yellows. I'm not a zombies and orcs guy.
I'm experienced with art and painting as a whole, but not figure painting specifically. Words like "drybrushing" and what "quickwash" is compared to normal washing means next to nothing to me.
I don't have much budget for this, like at all, I don't need stuff thats 10 dollars for each bottle. As long as it feels decent to work with I don't mind if it looks a little "cheap", I don't even think I'd tell the difference haha
I don't have any extra tools or equipment for stuff like spraypainting and the like. My tools are 4 brush types, paper towels, Bahamut's mercy and a dream.
I'm sorry if any of these bits caused expert painters physical pain. I always put on too much wash and have to blot at it with paper towels.
I'm really clueless when it comes to this field, so really the most basic pieces of advice are appreciated LOL.
I may have had only two or three positive d&d experiences in my life, but that won't stop me from coming up with little guys and taking worldbuilding notes that I won't remember the context and meaning of.
Also, now that I have the chance to show them, here's some examples of figures I've painted. The two WIPs on the left especially are examples of the colors I tend to like (even though the 3rd being that yellow was a mistake)

Buy a small selection of a brand and see if you like them. If not try a different brand. ;)
I'm partial to Reaper's Master Series myself. But I've got Army Painter and Vallejos for some colors as well.
i use vallejo too, i like that it’s already thin
