This needs plenty of upvotes. 1 for +1 weapons, 1 for +2s, etc. Same with armour (+1, +2), same with Adamantine, same with armour of resistance, same with the dancing blades. And on and on :P

Completely agree, potential fix could be on searching for the magical item there is a drop down box that offers the player the option of picking +1/+2/+3 and then on selecting it takes the user to the page corresponding to what rarity/power they have selected.

I'd like to think that most of the site design has been well thought out before Beta implantation. I wouldn't expect anything less from the dev's who are putting this page together.
When you reference back from the character sheet, it may be very useful to have the full description of the item to hand, or even inserted into the sheet. For browsing, however, the suggestion by Liamzl sounds good to me.
Hmmm, there might we a reason we did this that becomes much more apparent with the Character sheet ;)
While i could see the reason for having all the weapons in the compendium to link to from a character sheet, I think a UI/UX experience would be enhanced for general search in the compendium to group these into 1 item by default and maybe a direct link can show the individual item?
As an example, The compendium shows Magic Weapon +1, a flag on the character sheet linking might have type =ShortSword so that when linked to the compendium Magic Weapon + 1 becomes Magic Short Sword + 1. Just something to consider. I can completely understand wanting to have all of them in the database for character builder and campaign management later.
I understand what Hartlessd20 means by it becoming usefull when the character builder gets released.
But a modifier instead of 3 ID's of the same item with 1+,2+,3+ should fix this then u would only need to do + on the item like a button for it to get +1 or +2 ect.
And when the character builder gets released u can still select the item and press + if need be.
But as i am reading this thread it seems that for each item that can get +1-3 there is a separate ID meaning 3 times the items in the database is kinda weird.
A modifier should be implanted as i suggested but if there really is something more to it than simply a system they thought up that will reflect in the character stats.
Like if u equip a +2 weapon to your character with the soon to be revealed char builder for it to automatically fill in attk bonus damage modifier to your attks using that weapon then i would still say just give every item a modifier where u can enter 1-3 and its fixed.
But yea lets wait a dev reacted by saying they got their reasons so we gotta believe ~

I suspect I know the thought process here. If I'm right, there is no good reason the database and supporting code can't be structured to present the same information differently in the item compendium and the character creator.
Well you could have a generic listing of +1 weapon, then when selected have a new selector for the weapon/armor etc. You can see the stats and then I think there would be a transfer button for the character sheet after that.
This is basically my one complaint about the whole service so far.
We need SOME way to not see the magic items page clogged up with redundant entries. You say you have reasons, well, the magic item browsing section is a lot harder to use than it needs to be. I hope your plans for the character builder are worth more than the current feature you are testing, because it makes it barely usable.
yeah almost 7 pages of armor of resistances. There must be a better way to do it. And this is only the SRD data. When more stuff gets added, it will be frustrating to go through pages and pages of one item in all of it's different potential forms. I mean, each thing can still have their own entry, as will be needed for the character builder, but when you are browsing items for random inspiration maybe a main header of...
"Armor of Resistance", you click on that you the menu expands to... "Armor of (damage type) resistance", Then once you decide which damage type you want it to be resistant to, the menu expands to.. "armor of (damage type) resistance (armor type)"
That way you are not scrolling through 7 pages of Armor of Resistance when you want to get to the next category.
This is supposed to be where we give feedback, and we are finding this to be an issue, unless you say that with the next phase sorting will be updated because of the character builder, we have to assume that the sorting will be the same.

Don't worry, we are listening to all feedback. This is a beta, after all, so nothing here is final, yet. Thanks so much for everyone's feedback!
I get that, but there's gotta be a better way. Right now, the armor of resistance is taking up more than 50% of the magic armor section with about 120 entries at a glance. It should just be a tab or something.
The really frustrating part is that there are two different locations to look up item stats. The icon says "items", but the search goes into "magical items". All enchanted items are just variants of the base weapon, which we cannot see on the "items" tab. However you want to model it on the backend, whatever, but the UI presentation is pretty lacking at the moment.

I thanked this post, but I'm quoting it for extra emphasis. I think many, if not most of us see that you're making modular elements so that they can be handled individually, but listing all the elements individually really decreases the utility of the item list.
Honestly, I think the same applies to the monsters: I'd love one Red Dragon listing, with all the age versions listed in one listing, but I haven't seen others say as much, so I could be wrong.
@Nazim, I completely agree. The listing of the various types of red dragons is not very helpful at all. Of the five monsters that show up for a "red dragon" search, there are actually only two distinct monsters: red dragon and half-red dragon veteran.
I'd much prefer a collapsed "red dragon" entry that had the CR range instead, e.g. "4-17".
I have no problem with the separate +1, +2 or types of items I am aggravated that i need to hit clear all filters everytime I want to change topics like going from armor to weapons, if I dont hit to clear all filters the list does not change

You will find regular items under the compendium. They are all fairly basic stuff so I personally do not think they need entries in the "items" list which is just for all magical items.
But I can see your confusion because the tab says "Items" not "Magic Items"

One entry for magical weapon is enough.
Same problem with resistance armor and ring. Take space for nothing.
