Nice work, although it is not that handy to work with, especially creating a higher level character. I can't wait for the end result.
Some remarks, not in a specific order.
Since the feats and other add-ons come later, it is hard to calculate your ability scores (certainly the max of 20) and the HP points (which get the constitution bonus added afterwards). It doesn't take into account the ability score increase. For example a constitution increase from 13 to 14 on character lvl 4 means that the con bonus to health on lower levels is 1 instead of 2. This does mean, when you make a lvl 9 character, that you first have to make a lvl 4, then upgrade to level 8, then upgrade to lvl 9. Not quite practical.
The Human variant has only two possibilities to choose feats from (Grappler and Svirfneblin Magic)
If your DM allows extra feats, there is no place to add them to your sheet.
A thing i would recommend, is when adding printing your sheet, is a possibility to print your spellbook in A5 format, where the spells are explained like in the PHB. The fact you can make an A5 booklet is very interesting to play with.
So I started building a character and stopped at the equipment section. To confusing to add gear. Did not see much in the way of creating some of the characters that I have already created. Unless more content is made available for testing I would say skip this for character creation and use it only for monster look up.

For the beta, only the rules and options provided in the D&D 5th edition SRD, D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion are available in Beyond. Once the full platform launches later this summer, the core rule books and others will be available for purchase, and the content within will be available for those that purchase, or have access through a DM's subscription.
Seems like a nice char builder. Although there are some minor things that would make it a lot easier.
first it would be nice to be able to tap equipment when you add to se details.
second it seems a bit odd not to be able to remove class/level and so on. I made a mistake when to a character starting at level 6, and had to make a new char sheet.

and Third, when will this be available in an app?
Yes leveling a character down it is a known problem. Devs are working on that. The app will be available at the final release (August-September probably, although no official announcement has been made).
Currently when building a character like a Barbarian, the character sheet doesn't include the attack modifiers gained while Raging. Ideally, these would be listed in the same subsection with the rest of the attacks or maybe added to the "To Hit" via a "USE" button.
(Likely already mentioned but...) it would be nice to have racial feature spells (ex. Reach to the Blaze - Produce Flame & Burning Hands), item spells (ex. Circlet of Blasting - Scorching Ray), etc accessible on the spells list to access the spell data.
Just had a play with the character builder. And in general, it's really nice. There are a couple of things that would be helpful, most of which others have talked about so I won't re-iterate, one however I feel would be useful that I haven't seen mentioned:
Spell manager: When "managing / picking" spells for a casting class, the picker is excellent, with one minor drawback that you have to know what the spells do. Sure, I can open another tab and lookup each one, but I think it would be very helpful to be able to click the spell title and have the box expand to load/show the spell data on demand. Most players know a bunch of spells, but people - I for one, certainly - can't recall what every spell does from memory.
Should be a fairly simple thing to implement, and would go a long way to streamlining the spell-selection process.
Also, while I'm here, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but standard equipment granted by class/background should be automatically added to the character's equipment bundle. I had to search for the standard dagger and leather armour granted by the Bard Class. (One solution would be the 3 starting equipment choices could be radio type selections that automatically add the selected equipment).
In general, though. Fantastic job. Makes rolling a character very easy. Great work! Can't wait to see how this tool matures.
EDIT: OK, while typing this, others have request it too. ^_^ So I'm merely echoing them :)
I searched this thread, so I think I'm the first to catch this bug.
While wearing heavy armor, a "Dexterity Bonus" is applied if your dexterity modifier is negative. Dexterity should be ignored while wearing heavy armor.
My character has a Dex score of 8 (dex modifier of -1), and is wearing plate (+18 AC) and a shield (+2 AC). My character's AC should be listed at 20 AC, but it is shown as 19 AC.
Just a minor bug. Overall, I'm very impressed with the content available. Looking forward for what is to come. Great job devs!
This has been caught under seperate feedback and is being worked on.

I don't know if any of this is covered already but I have a few UX suggestions that might help it be more user friendly, at this stage i only got as far as Description but if it's helpful I will continue with equipment management onward:
Race:
If a race chosen – for example Half Elf has any ability score improvement, it might be handy to let the user choose them at the abilities score page rather than making them choose there and then
Allow the user to select their age, alignment and size when they expand the relevant concertinas as giving them the relevant information
Choosing skills using a selection button rather than a drop-down box would be user friendly and prevent duplication. If you prefer to use a drop-down box, grey-out any choices the user has already made.
If a race chosen allows for extra skills and proficiencies, allow the user to select them at the class stage but make it clear they are getting tme as part of their race choice.
Class:
Separate skills and proficiencies into two different sections.
Use buttons rather than drop downs to select skills - this makes it easier to see what you have chosen, and what you can choose, and prevents duplication
Abilities:
Have the selection box above the relevant score calculations so you can see them change in real time as you make adjustments
Description:
Let a user use buttons to choose their alignment
Let a user use buttons to choose their lifestyle
Avoid using lightboxes to fill in personal characterisitics – there is no reason why you can’t have a text entry box open up underneath when you click, for example: ‘Add Flaw’
Let a user choose background using a button – to avoid duplication and confusion this section needs to be with the other skills, perhaps have a whole new page for skills
Of course many of these are subjective, so feel free to ignore them.
Also, while I'm here, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but standard equipment granted by class/background should be automatically added to the character's equipment bundle. I had to search for the standard dagger and leather armour granted by the Bard Class. I'm not sure adding starting gear automatically is the way to go because some players may want to use the starting gold approach or you could be starting at a higher level at which point starting equipment may include magic items that would replace items in the 1st level starting kit.
Instead I would suggest including a button to add starting equipment that brings up a pop-up that goes through each choice. There should also be a button for starting gold that generates a value based on your starting class and adds it to the currency tab.
I'm sure this is being worked on but the equipment section should have buttons to buy the item, where the buy button deducts the appropriate value from your character's gold and is greyed out if you don't have enough gold.
I like the character editor and I'm sure with all the feedback it's going to come out pretty great. I don't know if it's been mentioned in this thread yet, but I would love to see some additional character portraits (Goliath represent!), but I get it's probably not top priority right now.
Having the character builder concluding on a printable character sheet is a must. Personally, I think that the final result of the character builder should be included in a playing tool that could be used by the players during the game to manage dice rolling, spell and weapon selection, spell components, spell effects, hit points, ammunitions, etc.
Will the application become a stand alone app or do we always have to be connected to access to our character?
In the character builder app, I don't see the ammunitions being considered on the character sheet. I have tried to have my character use arrows +1 and to have him equipped with a quiver but I have not seen how this could be done. I always ended as if my character is using its shortbow with normal arrows. Weight of ammunition is not included in encumbrance. Ammunition management does not seem to have been included in the app.
These are great suggestions. I particularly like the point you made in regards with the skills and abilities (adding all the modifiers on the same screen instead of going back to the race selection).

FEATURE REQUEST: EQUIPMENT AND SPELLS
When adding spells or equipment, consider adding the following:
1) A way to see the description of the spell or item before adding it (tap/click to expand, press ADD to confirm)
2) A way to quickly access either the basic equipment list from the PHB or only the options related to the selected class
3) A way to keep track of how many spells of which level should someone include when adding spells to the Wizard's spell book
I apologize in advance if the functionality is there and maybe I didn't find it. Thanks for the terrific work building these tools.
FEATURE REQUEST: MULTICLASS
Consider adding a way to edit (remove for example) classes in a character sheet.
Is it possible to add a weapon as a monk weapon, so it will have the right modifiers in the sheet.
FEATURE REQUEST: CLASS ABILITY MODIFIERS
Currently when building a character like a Barbarian, the character sheet doesn't include the attack modifiers gained while Raging. Ideally, these would be listed in the same subsection with the rest of the attacks or maybe added to the "To Hit" via a "USE" button.
