The abilities scores are not all locking in. Charisma simply will not calculate.
Equipment Manager is utterly broken.. Nothing will add to the list, not allowing me to place anything preventing you from adding anything... Also will not save any written in Personal Characteristics. a
I was having trouble adding equipment as well (finally got it to work, kinda). I was trying to add spells to my 5th level bard, and it would only (at first) add 1 cantrip. I finally (after some time) was able to add all 3, but I was only able to add 3 of the other 8 spells. Could that be from creating the character right at 5th level and not going 1 level at a time?
This is the first chance I've had to play with the character builder. It would be nice if we could have a 3D6 dice calculator that rolls random numbers.
It would also be nice if we can pick a background before you ask about characteristics. Then have the option to either roll for Flaws, bonds, ideals or pick one and have it added to the player sheet instead of typing them in. The option to type them in should remain if they don't want to use the background options.
I also didn't have all the backgrounds to choose from. Which is odd because the backgrounds don't dictate what class you pick.

First paragraph: I use [4d6, drop lowest 1, open-ended] and I'm pretty sure the official calculation is 4d6.
Second paragraph: I completely agree.
Third paragraph: That gets asked so much that I (and most of the Moderators) have put the answer in my signature.

I think I ran into a bug. I've built a Level 5 human wizard with 13 Strength. He has a longsword equipped, and its giving him +4 to hit. He doesn't have any longsword or martial weapons proficiency, so I'm calculating that it should be +1 to hit (from Strength bonus). I believe it's adding his proficiency bonus of +3 to get the total of +4, but it shouldn't as far as I can tell.
Not sure if this has been included previously as this thread has gotten so big but with the rules if you wear Heavy Armor the dex modifiers (whether positive of negative) don't apply. I found that my character who has 7 dex and wearing heavy armor still got the -2 modifier applied.
Another thing is how can we add skills, proficiency or languages manually? During downtime if the DM allows you can pay to learn things. As such my character wanted to learn another language and used his downtime to learn that. But I see no way to manually add those aspects on the character sheet.
Again sorry if both were mentioned before as I didn't read the whole 40 page thread.
I ran into a similar problem. I built a level 1 half elf wizard with 8 Strength. He has a Pike equipped and it is giving him a +1 to hit. I don't believe he gets Pike or martial weapon proficiency, so I calculate it should be -1 to hit (0 proficiency bonus and -1 strength penalty). As stated above I believe it is also adding the proficiency bonus (+2 for 1st level) but shouldn't be.
Related to a post I've just made in the Homebrew mega thread (Link to post).
The modifiers for magic items has a section to allow specific modifiers to only apply with attunement, however this is not editable and seems to be always set to false. Since this is supposedly the same toolset used by the developers to create the non-homebrew magic items it looks like they are affected by this.
For example, the Dwarven Thrower is a +3 Warhammer that requires attunement by a dwarf.
1. Because it requires attunement, its properties (including the +3 to attack and damage) should not be available unless attuned. However, with the Dwarven Thrower equipped but not attuned the +3 magic bonus is included in the attack and damage modifiers.
2. I was also able to attune the Dwarven Thrower with an elf character which suggests that because the attunement requirements box is free form it is not being used to check whether the character meets the requirements. I suggest that there should be some keyword specific boxes to restrict by at least race, class, skill, ability score and class feature.

With regards to the dice roller: I feel like there should be a dice roller option in the "manual" character attribute generation method, in addition to just empty text boxes. The text boxes are useful if you are effectively importing an existing character into the application. But if I'm actually using the app to generate a character, it's a little weird that there's no die-rolling option in the standard method. Clearly an RNG is used for the random method.
And I agree: it should be 4d6, drop lowest, as described in both SRD and PHB.
Warlock only has the fiend patron available, any idea when they're gonna be adding the other two core patrons?
For the beta, only the rules and options provided in the D&D 5th edition SRD, D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion are available in Beyond. Once the full platform launches later this summer, the core rule books and others will be available for purchase, and the content within will be available for those that purchase, or have access through a DM's subscription.
I find the Score Calculations section of the character builder to be confusing, there are many numbers shown. I would be hesitant to show this to a newer player. Maybe hide it behind an "advanced" button?
It would be nice if the Personal Characteristics part of the Character Builder could select from a dropdown of the Suggested Characteristics once you choose a background. Maybe also put these right after eachother, it's weird that the background section is not right beside the Personal Characteristics section.
I tried adding arrows to my character sheet. It is unclear if 1 Arrows means a bundle of 20 when looking at the item listing in the Manage Equipment screen, or 1 singlular arrow.
When I went to add 20 Arrows, the screen locked up.
After just adding 1 Arrow, I could then see in my character sheet the full info, including that 1 Arrow is actually 20.

With regards to backgrounds: I'm happy choosing the options in the official order - I don't need to select a background before determining attribute scores. I have no problem with the flow.
But I do have the same problem with the interface that BranniganC expresses. There has GOT to be a way to select personality traits, an ideal, a bond, and a flaw from the list that is already being displayed to the user. Give us a radio button to "select two" (personality traits), "select one" (ideals, bonds, flaws), OR type in our own custom ones. I am confident that the vast majority of users using the app will want to select from the list, rather than creating their own personality details, or (more likely) retyping one or more of the existing options. And that's not even imaging that the user is typing on a mobile device!
I noticed that when I create a barbarian I cannot add my Primal Path, is this coming later?
Also noticed that when I added 2 hand axes to my character they both show up as weapons. Adding 4 javelins, however, increased my carrying weight but only added one javelin. I assume the other 3 are there but there is no indication that there is more than one on the character.
Also, when trying to add a background it seems a number of options are missing. I was trying to create a character with an "Outlander" background, for example and that wasn't an option. Further, when trying to remove a background (set it back to nothing selected) the loading reticle pops up and freezes there.
Last, a quick question, do you have any plans to add the races from Volo's guide?

In race selection, for options like the human and half elf that get bonuses to multiple skill types, you should wait to have the player select what skills they want to upgrade until after setting up basic stats. The skill stat page is also very cluttered and confusing. It will not show racial bonuses until AFTER you input a number at the top.
Also, wait to ask for skill proficiencies until after selecting race, class and background, and offer ALL options on one big page. Right now we can't see what our options are for combinations, and can only view one at a time.
I also ask that you do not put the spell list creation in until the very end. Or better yet, don't work on the spell list in the character creator, but rather AFTER the character sheet is put together. When I play my high elf warlock that gets a wizard spell and several warlock spells, it would be really nice to see all options at once so I don't overlap spells.

I created a ranger character that will not load - once I leveled up - it just sits there and spins when I try to view it
