Currently there is no way to filter spells by type (divine or arcane) nor by school (transmutation, enchantment, divination, etc.). The ability to exclude spells or narrow down a list based on these filters would be highly useful as they are important tags.
You can filter by spell school easily. You need to click the Advanced Filters button which is directly under the Spell Tags filter. It's hard to see because it's a light grey colour which is rather annoying, but it gives you access to filters for spell school, save requirement, damage type, etc.
Hopefully they change the colour to something a little more visible.
Didn't see the advanced filter option and I tried finding one. Not sure if it wasn't there when I first looked or if it was that grey. They have changed it to purple now. Either way it solves the issue and was a quick change.
After you select a school with advanced search and then do the search, the advanced options disappear. It would be useful if they either visible after searching. It would be really nice if they persisted.
Searching for spells based specifically on Eldritch Knights or Arcane Tricksters sounds cool, but you could easily narrow your searches for that down by applying a "search by school" filter with the Wizard spell list. Of course, this all depends on us getting a "by school" filter. It would effectively allow you to search for the spells you want. For example, you've got an Eldritch Knight at level 3. Ok, I'm gonna look for 1st-level Wizard spells in the abjuration and evocation schools. Bam. There's all the spells you can get as a 3rd-level EK.
Hello everyone. We did change the Advanced Filters colors to make them more noticeable, but of course once you find it once you'll know it's there.
We will also be adding subclasses soon (domains, circles, eldritch knight, etc.).
Lastly, we intentionally excluded any "arcane" or "divine" tags since fifth edition has de-emphasized/removed the concept with so much spell overlap. (A bard casts cure wounds - is it divine or arcane?)
Ok , first I like the look but lets look at the process
I am a little confused I thought lower level means less power
Cantrip acid Splash does 1D6 point of damage wow I can take down first level guys with a cantrip sound completely dump
First level spell color spray does 6 d 10 point of damage for a first level spell in a cone shape.
Well I think I will take down a group of Goblins all by my self and hell with the warrior. You just sit their and look pretty.
Hello Spells are to be progressive not all powerful at first level. I didn't even look at the higher level
Wonder why I stop at Forth edition.
you are trying to make the sides fair between a wizard and warrior and that don't work in D&D
Lower level Warrior wins every time and higher level Wizard mops the floor with the warrior. But it the team building during the time that really matters. Working together to solve the puzzles and get the prize. Did you all forget this
Icor77 since this is in open beta they are looking comments to help improve the website function not complaints about game mechanics that have been in use since the release of 5E.
2nd I randomly looked at some of the 1st level npc in the monster section and the lowest hit points I could find was 7 which means you have to hit twice at minimum with Acid Splash this also assume you are not rolling garbage on your damage dice. Even if the DM puts creatures with 3 hit points in the game you will probably end up fighting a horde of them and since Acid Splash is a single target have fun with that.
3rd you need to read spells more carefully
Color Spary - A dazzling array of flashing, colored light springs from your hand. Roll 6d10; the total is how many hit points of creatures this spell can effect. Creatures in a 15-foot cone originating from you are affected in ascending order of their current hit points (ignoring unconscious creatures and creatures that can't see).Starting with the creature that has the lowest current hit points, each creature affected by this spell is blinded until the spell ends. Subtract each creature's hit points from the total before moving on to the creature with the next lowest hit points. A creature's hit points must be equal to or less than the remaining total for that creature to be affected. At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, roll an additional 2d10 for each slot level above 1st.
Color Spray doesn't do damage at all it only blinds the affected targets. You roll 6d10 dice to determine the total number health points you can effect of creatures in the area including allies. Say you have 6 Goblins with 10 hit points + 1 ally with 9 hit points in the 15ft cone. If you roll 38 on your 6d10 which is a better than an average roll the spell would only blind your ally and 2 Goblins for one round doing no damage and nothing to the other 4 goblins.
The process would be as follows determine the creature with the lowest health. In this example it is your ally so he is blinded and you subtract his health points from the total pool 38 - 9=29. Now go to the next lowest creature which would be a Goblin with 10 points so it is now blinded and now you subtract his health from the pool sol 29 -10=19. This process can only repeat one more time until on the 3rd Goblins health "10" will be greater than what remains in the pool which is "9".
Even if you roll 60 on your 6d10 to have all 6 goblins in a 15 foot cone would require surprise and some pretty poor planing on part of your DM.
Finally if you like solving puzzles more than fighting which is perfectly fine than find a DM who wants to run a campaign that way that is completely on you.

Would be since to have a separate spell listing for Arcane Trickster and Eldritch Knight archetype's

Try clicking "Advanced Filters" and you will find what you are looking for :)
It would also be convenient to have the ability to see spells that are exclusive to a particular class or set of classes.
For example, I might want to see Druid spells that are not also Cleric spells. Or Wizard spells that are not available to Sorcerers.
Eldritch Knight and Arcane Trickster specify that they use the Wizard's spell list.
+1 (I agree)

Here's a [feature request] that I don't exactly know how to put into words in terms of the current filter:
You're a GOO Tomelock w/BoAS.
Filter by all warlock spells, plus all other class cantrips, plus all other 1st lv rituals.
Possible?
Edit: I guess the question is, are there any classes in the SRD that allow cross-class spell list access?
I hate forum signatures.
Agree...I am playing an Eldritch Knight and would find the spell listing useful if I could sort based on this class.
