So I'm still reeling from my first Gen Con experience, and I very much feel like Jack at the end of the first Lost flash-forward ("We have to go back!").
I was sad to see that DDB seemed to have a limited presence, as I was unable to get tickets to the live Critical Role event. I would have liked some other opportunities to shake the staff's hands and thank them for this fantastic resource, but I probably would have gushed like a fanboy anyway so oh well lol. I think I may have walked past BadEye at some point on Thursday, but like all of the D&D celebrities I walked past, they all seemed too busy and, as someone who's been doing different kinds of entertainment work for the past 2 decades, I'm not the type to really want to bother people.
I did get to meet 2 members of the DDB staff outside of a restaurant, and we had a short but pleasant conversation. They were very interested in my thoughts on DDB, and which upcoming features I was looking forward to the most. At the time, I said that because the new character sheet was out, I wasn't really anxious about any new features, although everything on the roadmap looks pretty great.
Later that evening, I got to play some D&D, and I immediately wish I had said that I'm looking forward to the offline character sheet lol. I checked the wifi signal in the waiting area outside of the D&D space, and it seemed fine, but once I got to my table it dropped off suddenly with no hope of reconnecting. I know now that I should have just exported the PDF, but hindsight is always 20/20 and I was already in the game when I learned this. Luckily, my phone had enough juice to get me through, but it was looking dicey (pun intended) there for a minute.
I know the offline sheet is on the horizon, I just wanted to add my voice to the choir.
I also attended GenCon 2018 (except I got into the Critical Role show). When we played in BMG DDAL, I panicked when I realized I was in the same boat. Thankfully, I was able to use my iPhone as a hotspot. Add my voice to the offline request!
