For those of us who have like npcs as well as pc in their characters list.
Is it possible to add a way for us to categories them ? I have like 20+ characters including those i use as npc in my campaign. I just like making char and bbeg are good to do player wise.
Anyway greatly appreciated if we could have categories or something of the sort.

I think it would be helpful if there was an option to start with a feat at first level instead of having to get one at fourth instead of the Ability Score Improvement. My group likes to do that sometimes.
Will the next phase of development improve the character sheet on non-phone interfaces? Drilling down through all the expanding menus is such a pain. I'd very much prefer a simple popup. I just need it to list my features and let me tap a link to display a pop up that can then be dismissed (unlike beta).
Desktop character builder/ sheet views are going through a full revamp based on thousands of posts of feedback. This process will take us a little while (but not too long), and it will make marked improvements. Collapsibles are changing to another UI.
I really shouldn't do this as things can change, but I'll post a super small snippet preview of part of the desktop sheet view. Please keep in mind this is WIP and NOT final.
I just recently got into DNDbeyond, have been using the books so far. However, when it comes to character creation I still like to have my character printed out. And when it comes to the Character sheet export as PDF ... well, let's say it's lackluster and kind of missing alot of stuff, aspecially in the "organization" department.
Let's start on the first page, lower left corner, where the proficiencies are. I would love it this were split up a bit (also maybe increased font size?)... also scrap the Skills proficiencies from that section. Proficient skills are already marked with a dot in the skills tab, no need for them to show up here again. I would like the tab called "Other proficiencies & languages" to be split up like this:
Languages: ....
Armor: ....
Weapons: ...
Miscellanious: ....
Next, "Equipment" ... there's nothing wrong with the equipment tab so far, I'd prefer however if each item went into a single line, also leave the currency spaces empty, since it changes alot I need to erase and fill in anew ... When there's a 0 or any other value in it, erasing kinda gets difficult ^^
The "Features & Traits" column could also be better organized. On the first page of the character sheet I'd like only those features & traits show up that are combat relevant, all others should go on the second page to "Additional features & traits". Also each feature should have the rule book and page it can be found at in brackets. Some of the features and traits there are also pretty redundant, e.g. "Spellcasting" for rangers lvl 3 and higher or "Ranger Archetype" ... Yeah, I know that I chose one ...
The section "Attacks & Spellcasting" could furthermore be used for special dmg sources, like Hunter's Colossus Slayer with a brief description.
I did a little mock up, trying to include my suggestions as well as some repositioning - albeit, I'm not finished with repositioning ^^
The exported PDF is a form. You can change stuff before printing.
If I have to completely re-create a character before I print it, then why do I need this system. I can save myself some time by using a regular character sheet. Luckily for those of us that want a Printed Sheet without all the fuss, DDB is working a better solution.
I think you need to use the character builder from OrcPub2. It takes about 5 minutes to build a character using that system, all the equipment is put in for you and equipped. If you need to roll up a new character it is so much easier to use. The DnD Beyond system is slower, less user-friendly and involves more clicks to get a character ready. I really wish DnD Beyond would partner with Orc Pub to use their character builder. I think were DnD Beyond to have a character builder as simple and clean as the one from Orc Pub it would be a much more powerful tool.

My players didn't like OrcPub because it was hard to get a grasp on. seriously it was missing a ton of features. not to mention i had problem creating characters on it. Beyond is intuitive, except for stats being chosen after class and race. but overall, my friends and i loves beyond because making a character with it is still pretty much only 15 minutes, which is as close to as fast as it can aside from the software choosing everything for you and you getting things you don't like.
also the new sheet might make it different on character creation.
as for sheets my biggest problem with the official sheet is that it puts stuff we don't need ont he front page. to be honest i'd put flaws and the likes on the second page. and leave that space for special abilities like the actual spell slots. instead of using the third page i just put my spell slots on the first, then i put my say, ki, warlock slot, superiority dice or bardic inspiration on the front page as well. aside from that equipment is put on the second sheet in treasure for me, and i keep my gems and cash on the main page.

It would be nice to have character sheet options (in regards to the exported character sheet). I understand that the current basically reflects the official character sheet, but maybe down the line we can have a few different options to choose from, that can incorporate some of these ideas.
I get and agree that the official D&D character sheet should be the default and should always be on this site, as it's an officially licensed D&D product. I also get that if you asked 10 players what the ideal sheet looked like, you'd likely get at least 7 different answers. If we were able to maybe submit designs for character sheets, or even if you just offered a few "alternative" designs, I think that would go a long way too :) (Think of it as homebrew, but for character sheets ;))

We've got some things planned for this. I'll share more when I'm able.

I think I read somewhere that there was a preview available of the new character sheets, like a screenshot or something, but I can't find it anywhere.
Does anyone know where to see it? I'm quite curious for even a little glimpse!
Awesome, thanks!
Yup, do note though that is a design image, from earlier in the development cycle, not the actual sheet.
That said, I expect the actual sheet to be better. :)

You don't have the Guild Artisan Background
The exported PDF is a form. You can change stuff before printing.
Check out all my important links here.
May we live in Less Interesting Times
The PDF is also the standard form-fillable character sheet, from the Wizards of the Coast website.
There will be a lot of improvements to the PDF export functionality as part of the character sheet revamp that is currently being worked on. :)
