"Well, Father," Garavon begins says as he maneuvers to place the boys behind him. "Things may improve as we have reduced the evil some small amount. What can you tell us of the hags who live in the old Mill? We have come against them and defeated two, though third and most powerful escaped and I expect her to cause trouble for vengeance, and I feel we may be in need of help from the Morning Lord."
Father Petrovich gave Garavon a confused look. “I’m no monster hunter, and I daresay you already know more about these hags than I do. However, I can say with confidence that if the bones of Saint Andal are returned to the church, these old stones will be hallowed ground once more, and all manner of vile and evil creatures will be rejected with the might of the divine.”
"hmm... Father I need you to calm yourself and think back. How did you know the bones are gone? Walk us through the day before the discovery and the discovery. Can you show us were the bones were kept?
"The day started out like any other, I opened the church doors and let out the parishioners who had been sheltering overnight. Then I went out about town for my daily constitutional, it's nothing special, just a short walk. Milivoj can take care of the church and Yeska while I am gone. When I came back...are you a man of faith? If you are, you would understand when I tell you there was a sense of loss as I stepped back into the church. As if a friend who had been walking next to you was no longer there.
Immediately I went to the altar, you can see most of the church has a flagstone floor and only the areas surrounding the altar are made of wood. That's because the tomb of Saint Andal is under it. I checked the floorboards, and several of them had their nails loose or missing. Someone had pried them open and laid them back. I descended into the tomb myself and sure enough, Saint Andal was no longer in his resting place."
Skanon who had been quietly listening to the conversation glanced towards Garavon for a moment before looking towards the priest with an apologetic smile. Now he was actually starting to feel bad for having pretended to be a vessel for the Morninglord at the gate. "Other than the loose and missing nails... was there anything else unusual that about the floorboards. Other than them having been pried open of course... any information you may have about the scene of the crime could help us with relocating the bones for you."
