Valen wrinkled his nose in disgust. "Are you really sure about that?" He sighed, audibly. "Fine. We'll do it your way." Standing, he stretched his limbs, and took his position opposite Katerina, blades drawn.
The fight went quickly, but not in the way Valen had wanted it to. The first few jabs Katerina threw at him with her blade missed, but only barely. Muttering the incantation for Sleep, Valen targeted the half-elf, grinning as he released the magic. His Bladesong activated as he stepped towards her still figure, but was caught off-guard when she swiped at him again. Cursing, he nearly fell to the ground as he bent over backwards to dodge the blow. "Guess I'll have to do this the boring way," he muttered, dropping his rapiers as he jumped away. Taking out his spellbook, he opened it to the page he wanted, almost out of habit. He held a hand hand in front of him, he chanted the incantation, and four darts of pure arcane energy phased into existence, striking Katerina before she could thing to dodge, bringing the duel to a halt.
Sighing, Valen put away his spellbook, before going to apologize to Katerina. "Sorry about that. If you want to try again, with only protection magic, I'd be glad to give you a rematch," the high elf stated, offering a hand to help her up with.
Katerina takes the hand Valen is offering, and says "my grandfather is currently annoyed that I forgot a spell that can stop Magic Missile, but your only deffensive fight sounds fun." she nods, and then says "though both of us should rest up, and you might wan't to look though the town, as I would be glad to translate for you"

Valen nodded in agreement. "I'd be very interested in the going-ons of this town. For starters, could you take me to some merchants? Maybe a blacksmith or an artificer of sorts."
"I would like to go," Dastrun says, "do you have an magic shops around here?". Dastrun is now wearing trousers and all of his gear, but no shirt, choosing to show of his muscles instead. HE flexes every once and a while to impress the ladies and make the men feel a little jealous.
Valen casually turns the entirety of Dastrun's back a bright pink, muttering, "Put a shirt on." The elf nods to Katerina, affirming his readiness to go.
Katerina laughs at what Valen did to Dastrun, and writing appears in elvish and shadowtounge saying "idiot" across Dastrun's chest as she waves her fingers and mutters under her breath. then, attempting to stop laughing, she nods and says "I can help show you the blacksmith's shop, but there isn't a magic shop"

The blacksmith is on the opposite side of the village, and on your way over there, you see some strange things. A Dwarf with a beard thrice his height is muttering some indecipherable tongue as he braids his beard. A goblin is shouting something (which Katerina says is not worth listening to) while waving a strange looking fruit. A shadowy dragonborn carries a frail-looking elf out of a building.
When you finally arrive at the blacksmith, they find a Shadow Genasi working the forge. All attempts to talk to him are ignored for about half an hour, until he finishes working on the scimitar he had been working on. You can see it is a marvellous piece of art, yet would do well in combat. An old adage floats into your memories - You want weapons for an army, you go to the dwarves. You want weapons for the individual, go to genasi.

Valen browsed the wares for a bit, noting the fine craftsmanship. Turning to Katerina, he asked, "Does he do modifications or improvements on weapons?"
[From this point, it is assumed that Katerina is translating when necessary]
The genasi thinks for a moment, pondering the question. "It depends what needs being done. Usually it is better to just get whole new weapon. Always easier, often cheaper, that way."

Valen was about to ask whether or not the blacksmith could simply enhance his current weapons when an idea came to mind. "I'd like something like this," he said, drawing one of his rapiers and presenting it to the genasi. "But the material I have in mind is rather unique. Do you think you could come look at it and judge whether or not you could use it?"
As Katerina is translating, she asks Valen a question - "what is this materiel? that star I saw you with?" as she watches him, and to a lesser degree Dastrun in the smithy. I like Valen and his fighting style is similar to mine, and Dastrun is nice, but I wish I could see what Chance is like.

The blacksmith walks up to the smaller of the two stars. After a few moments simply standing in front of it, he starts to circle it, resting his hand on it. After a minute of this, he stops, and pulls a chisel and a hammer from his belt, and chips a bit off.
"There's a chance its usable, but, I need to test a little more. Best bring that small one back with us. I won't use that larger one."
Qlevvaln complies, bringing it back to the Blacksmith's workplace. After an hour locked away, the Blacksmith comes out.
"I reckon I might be able to do it, but I'll probably have to alloy it a bit. Now, you want a regular rapier out of this, or you want something with a little more bite?"

"A zanbatō made of this star metal? Doable. I suppose you'd want it to have a bit of bite to it too? It is hard to gauge price of new material. For regular steel, it would be 850 gold extra per sword done in the style. If all goes well, I use less than half of this small star for both a rapier and a zanbatō. How much do you think this metal is worth compared to steel? One and a half times the same amount of steel? Twice the same amount of steel? I have no clue."
The genasi blacksmith picks up the scimitar he was working on earlier, and starts to prepare it for delivery as he talks.

"Can I have this made of that material too." Dastrun says, pulling out the Zanbatō.

"Hmm... How much more would it be for that extra 'bite' you're talking about? It really all depends on pricing," Valen replied to the blacksmith.
